Radio Randomly Shutting Off And Resetting Clock To 1:00

has anyone ever had this problem? The radio will just shutoff and reset the time to 1:00. you can turn it back on and all the memory presets are still fine.

The problem started about the same time I unplugged my ScanguageII from the OBDII port to use to pull the codes in another car...could it be related?

Is there a 58 Fury near you?

 I owned a car for a short while that had that same demeanor...tried it's best to kill me too. Run while the doors are still unlocked :(

My 01 would reset itself like that. I don't think it ever cut off, but I would never realize when it did it until it was like like 2 hours and 43 minutes off so I'd be late to wherever I was going.. real late..

My '02 Silverado did it twice recently and then no problem. Just the clock. The radio never lost the station memory.

it doesn't loose the memory, just the time. You actually hear a faint click through the speakers and look and the radio is turned off and clock at 1:00. You push the knob and it comes back on with all your presets no problem, just the clock reset

Happened on my 01 a few times a year but never when I was in the vehicle. I would get in to go to work and the clock would be messed up. Just the clock and not the presets.

Never did figure it out but I figured I could get other problems if I let the dealer replace the head unit so I just lived with the couple times a year it happened.

Might be a loose power connection - try removing and reseating the fuse. Could also be a loose power connection elsewhere in the harness. Also check the ODBII connector in case there is something loose there. Less likely but possible is static discharge damage related to removal of the SGII.
