I apologize if this is already a thread, but I'm looking at getting headers for my 04 5.3 but all I see are shorty headers. I'm not wasting my time with those. Does anyone have any recommendations on what long tubes I can use or should use if i decide to get any?

i have a set of banks full length "tourque Tube" headers, are awsome have a 5/8" think flange to head and are made of T409- stainless, they probly make a set for your truck checkem out bankspower.com, i recomend them my set gave a claim 24hp and 35 ft/lbs tourque, and they sound sweet!!

Well I checked and all Banks had was shorty headers.

Do you get any HP increase from a cat back exhaust? I'm new at this area.

If it's done properly with a quality system, you will gain a LITTLE bit of peak HP, like maybe 5-10. But if it's not engineered specifically for your truck, you may actually LOSE HP. What a good Catback will get you is a better Tq curve at all RPMs (again, if it's done properly).

Coincidentally, there is an article about Catbacks in this month's Popular Mechanics magazine. I just got it in the mail yesterday and was reading about this last night.

Check out Dynatech headers, their kinda expensive but well worth it, The welds are top notch and mine just bolted on in the garage with no lift about 6hrs and a couple of miller lites

Cost me along time ago about $1400 now they went down. Also if you happen to pull up their on line catalog you will see my truck in their catalog, writing a review. So in the end if you got the money its worth it trust me.

I've got Arizona Speed & Marine LTs on my 2004 6.0. I like 'em.

Definitely recommend the Dynatechs, I just finished installing my Dynatech longtubes on my Z06. A major pain in the ass to install but the finished product was well worth it; the car sounds freaking awesome and already made a noticeable increase in power even though I haven't had the chance to get the car dyno tuned yet.

I wouldn't recommend getting them coated, there are big debates over the performance benefits as coated primaries usually don't dyno any higher than non coated sets. On the truck you will definitely not see any heat related problems. The trucks have a ton of room in the engine bay for the headers, and after you see how tight the installations are on a Z06, you won't worry.

Since the dynatechs are stainless steel, you won't have to worry about corrosion. Mild steel headers will look like utter crap after a year or two if you're driving them in the winter and they are being exposed to salt, gravel, etc.
