Hey buds i have 2008 ext cab black exactly like ltz, I trying to decide if i want the 3 in .. I like the look of the 3 as opposed to the 4.For some reason the 4 looks bulky, those of you that have the bars which size did you get and 2 brands that i like is the Nasta or big country . I know there are alot brands too choose but these seem to have stainless steel brackets and bolts. I appreciate any input and pic of them close up if you have . Almost have all my goodies installed and ill have loads pic to put in the garage.:cold::nopity::shakehead:

I think they are all ugly, so my opinion is smaller is better.

x2 if you need step spend the bucks and get a set of Amps.

The chrome ovals are the best - not just because I'm buying them. The round tube ones have less of an area to step on. If you are getting the step bars for functionality, get the oval 6 inch ones. For looks, get the 6 inch ones. :shakehead:

The 6 inch ovals have the better functionality for both stepping on and protecting the side of your truck without the bulkiness. They also are GM Accessories and they mount on the underside of the rocker panels, NOT the cab mounts. These are 304 SSTL and are as solid as a rock, even with my 220 lb fat ass on them. They are spendy, but worth every penny IMO.

I looked at 3" round and 4" and 6" ovals. I ended up with 4" Raptor ovals and am very happy with them. I don't care for the round bars on teh new trucks, but if you like them that's all that matters.

I was lucky enough to look at 2 brand new crew cabs at the dealer with the oval and the round installed when I was buying my truck. I prefer the 4" round, they fit much higher and tighter and don't stick out. I went with them and have zero regrets, they do a good job of protecting.

GM 4" round!!

mounting to the body bolts is better than mounting them to the rockers by 1000000000000x

I think they look nice on some trucks. A guy I knew was bragging on his nerf bars and getting after me for not having them saying they made it easier to get in the truck. My wife told me to tell him don't buy a big boy's truck if you aren't a big boy. Usually she is the one complaining though. If I put them on, I think I'd go with the 4".

Not on the GMT900's. They are reinforced and designed for them. Mounting them to the cab mounts has it's issues.

Of course it is on the older trucks, as they were not DESIGNED for them to be mounted to the rockers. The GMT900's were designed for it. You may want to go have a look-see under a GMT900 and see for yourself.

Mounting to the Cab mount bolts has caused chassis rattles/creaks. There is even a TSB out on the GMT800's for it.

i go under a GMT-900 about 3 times a day, and i also know that almost all compaines make step bars that go into the body bolts..... really only fords and dodges go into rockers... but thats only because fords body bolts go down, and dodges, well i have no idea
