2006 Silverado Bose Replacement Speakers

I have a blown door speaker in my 06 Silverado with the Bose system. :( I found the GM part number for a replacement, but I was wondering if this is something that I can just use an aftermarket speaker for easily. I have some Polk 6.5's sitting in my garage that I wouldn't mind putting in. What's the impedence of the factory speaker? Does the Bose amp work well with aftermarkets? I asked in another thread about this, but I just thought I'd start another for others with the same questions. Thanks.

You could try it but in my experience, aftermarket speakers don't generally sound that good with the Bose. They tend to run somewhere between 1 and 4 ohms and the amps are tuned to compensate for the crappy speakers. I just pulled 4 out of my Denali and boy are they cheap. Also, the Bose amps generally do not put out significant power and have trouble driving normal speakers.

IIRC the rears in mine were 3.6ohm and the fronts were 2ohm.

Hmmmm, from what you are saying it sounds like maybe I should just get a new Bose one from ebay for 35 bucks or something. I'd like to upgrade the whole thing, but that's just not on my list of things to buy/do right now. The race car comes first, then the tow vehicle. :(

Anyone else have any experience with this situation?
