How To Disable Drl 2008 Sierra

Recommended Posts

New here and just got a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE. I was wanting to find out if there is anyway to disable the Daylight Running Lights to where I don't have to manually turn them off everytime I start the truck. I've searched and can't really find a good answer on the subject. Thanks in advance!

Why disable something that allows others to see you better?

If you do a search, this question has popped up several times.

I don't want to get into a debate about whether they are safer or not. There is arguments on both sides about DRL's. I however have searched and not found a good answer as to how I can disable them, if I even can.

I believe on the silverado it is fuse 24?

If you look in the fuse box under the hood you will see 2 drl fuses pull one and you should be ok.

Yeah,A fuse pull will do it..Thats what I did.

Keep in mind though that they moved around some of the fuses for '08,So it might not be the same fuse number as the '07s.

Found that out when looking for the On-Star fuse on an '08 and it wasn't in the same position as my '07.

Find the fuse box under the hood.

Check for this :

If the #'s are the same (they probably are), that corresponds to this on the diagram :

Which is this in the box :

I disabled mine when I put the HID's in.

Some people like being able to control things on their trucks!

On my 99 it made me mad I couldn't turn my headlights off at night. I never really needed to, but I thought it was dumb you couldn't. There is a area around where you drive to see Christmas lights. I couldn't take my truck because the lights would shine in other drivers' eyes and kinda ruin the Christmas light effect . . .

At least my 07 has fixed that problem.
