Pontiac Vibe

I've got a 2008 Vibe with the base engine. (i.e. matrix 1.8L 1ZZ-FE)

Oil fill cap and owners manual says to use 5W30.

Toyota issued a TSB

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t604804.html

That indicates the usage of 5W20.

Did Pontiac issue a similar TSB?

I'm due for an oil change and debating which one to use.

Still open as for synthetic or dino.

Planning on 5000 mile intervals.

Thanks.......

Nope. Got yota emblems all over the place unless they changed the engine with the redesign. That is why they are so expensive to repair.

The Vibe IS a Toyota. It is a Matrix twin based on Corolla mechanicals built in a Toyot plant. As much as this board hates on the Toy Brand, they are darn well screwed together and get huge gas mileage. I think they are pretty cool for a half sized car!

I think I'd be very sensitive to oil changes and intervals. I'd even consider Full Synthetic. Toyota engines are prone to sludging up if you push the interval any. If you change often and use good oil, they will still run forever...

I understand exactly what you are saying, and that is what softened me to imports. Before I was an avid import hater. Now I just hate uninformed buyers/ricers.

My mom has one...It's got HUGE room inside it for what it is. I was pretty impressed with that little puddle-jumper.

I just liked the fact that the back is plastic and not carpet, so if you did just so happen to get it dirty, all it took was a vaccume, and/or a bucket of water and you were done.

Honestly, I really wouldn't mind a Vibe GT. I never thought I would say it, but I actually miss my Vibe. :D

It's the wife's car.

To me, it is just car.

I didn't even test drive it.

She loves it.
