Digital Display Ac Controls

I just got my new 08 Silverado Crew Cab LT and it has the regular AC controls. Can I upgrade the controls to the digital display ones? Has anybody done this before?

Not sure, but I’m guessing it would take a little more work than just changing the unit in the dash. The digital unit has an auto feature that works in conjunction with an external ambient air sensor as well as an interior temperature sensor. I doubt the interior temp sensor would be in place on a vehicle with the manual unit.

A feature like this is better to order it, when you buy the truck than trying to install it after buying the truck. You can try to install it, but it is going to take a lot of work. You're going to need to install the digital unit for the A/C, interior sensors that manual AC don't come with, I would just stick with the manual A/C and buy some better upgrades for the truck.

I couldn't agree more. I have the automatic AC, and I am not sure if I would get it again. I like it, but, more often than not, I have it on a manual setting....maybe I'm just too old school.

 

I DO use it in auto more in the winter to maintain a compfy level in the cab.

 

I DO Like the feature with the remote start that cranks the air up upon starting. Not sure if it works with the manual unit.
