Heater Core Connection

Just a heads up to you guys with odler trucks, I was pulling a buddy out of some deep mud the other day and had truck working hard, and ended up breaking the cheap plastic piece the rad hose attaches to in the heater core. It was replaced with a custom metal replacement, but thankfully I had just pulled my buddyout so he towed me to the shop. Something to keep an eye on.

Hey Jon,

Have any idea where I can get the aftermarket connector. I just had mine snap. I really can't even tell how to get them off for replacement.

Here's the part you need. Many places to buy it, even locally. They make a plastic tool to remove the original fittings. It's available at local parts store as well.

Jeff,

Most autoparts stores will have the tool to remove the coupling from the heatercore. This was one of GMs "better ideas" to speed the production line. There are little fingers in the coupling that catch against a step on the heatercore side of the coupling, preventing it from coming off. The tool pushes those fingers back.
