gpgeerd Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Got a 2000 Suburban 1500 4WD. 75000 miles. Makes a grinding noise when make a right turn sometimes. Brakes are fine. Probably CV joint. Boots are solid with no tears. I jacked it up and turned each wheel by hand but no noise. Maybe not fast enough to get the noise. Any idea to determine which side?
2000DV4.8 Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Wheel bearing. To be sure, jack the truck up, then grab the tire on top and on the bottom, and wiggle back and forth. If there's any play (and it's not coming from the ball joints), it's the wheel bearing (hub assembly).
