I have a 2008 Sierra SLE with the two glove box setup. I need to replace the antenna base. I've got the radio removed, Glove boxes, antenna base screws removed. I can't seem to reach the whole cable. It is wrapped in foam and zip tied. It looks like the new base and cable are not long enough to reach the back of the radio. Some posts I have seen say there is a junction where the base cable connects to the radio cable. If there is a junction can someone tell me how to access it?

Thanks a lot for any help,

Ron

Thanks to the above posts I found the connection under the dash pad unfortunately my tape job failed when I tried to pull a wire through to pull the new cable back. I can get wires, coat hangers, fish tapes, etc. in the firewall hole from the outside but the all seem to hit something and I can't find my way into the cab. Does anyone have any pointers?

After a day and a half of slaving I got the cable through without removing the HVAC module. Your problem is that the hole you see from the outside is covered with insulation on the inside and then blocked with the recirc air inlet. I had to take the dash cover completely off including passenger airbag  , then with a wire coat hanger bent into a hook and another tool to make room and light (my inspection camera was great for that) and the help of my wife I managed to fish it through. There is no access with the dash in place, even if you take out the glove boxes. When you poke through your cable or a wire, you hit the insulation at a right angle, getting the center pin stuck in the insulation. I actually had to rip out a little bit of matting with the coat hanger to make enough room to turn the corner with the antenna plug. Once I saw the plug come in through the hole I managed to hook it with the coat hanger and pull it out, you need someone though to help you feed it from the outside or you will slip off the plug every time. Have a look at the pictures and you can get an idea how this cable runs.

It's a lot of work and frustration but still better than going to the dealer and dropping tons of cash.
