Power Seat And Pass Windows

I have a 2005 Silverado 1500 crew cab with 65,000 miles. The drivers power seat (passenger seat is manual) and both of the windows on the passenger side have quit working. I found the 50 amp MBEC fuse was blown and replaced it. Everything worked fine for a few days and then the same problems with the same fuse blown. If the fuse is replaced it may work for 4-5 days or it may work for 4-5 minutes. Since this problem has started I have had the truck to the local GM dealer and to an independent mechanic 4-times trying to locate the problem with no luck. Well the windows quite working again yesterday. Should I just go buy a large box of fuses or start looking for a short somewhere. Does anyone have any ideas on where I should start looking

Thanks for your help

You've obviously got a short somewhere if you're blowing fuses. You'll need the wiring diagrams for your vehicle to start chasing it down though.

Look first for chaffed wires coming out of the relay block (under driver side of dash to left of steering collum) follow the harness where they pass close to the emergency brake bracket. Then if your in an area that might have mice or other rodents remove the underhood fuse box and look underneath it, there is a nice cozy space in there that they like. There is a bulliten for this fuse that describes other locations but the E-brake location is usually the culprit. Also if you don't find it there and you can duplicate it you can feel the relays in that box to see if one is hot that can narrow down which circuits we need to run down. This can be a super pain in the ass to find if it isn't a dead short though just to warn you.
