So I have seen all of the previous messages from Delphi saying that the Bluetooth Connectivity Device will not be available directly to the public. Any word if GM will be selling this part, or, I'm wondering if those of you that work at GM may be able to get your hands on it.

 

It would be nice if GM does a nice service writeup for those of us wanting to install it on our 2007 and 08 models. From reading the description, this is EXACTLY what I want. No buttons, just a real simple device interconnected alongside our OnStar module I believe. Sounds real simple.

 

Any news?

No clue, but I would be interested myself in that. Wife just got an 08 enclave. Dealer indicated the the 09 enclaves will get a blue tooth interface....

Is this the device. I am really looking forward to this as well.

 

Of course the Dealer says that it is going to the 09's in mid year and no it will not work unless you change the head unit. :thumbs:

 

I can not see this to be true but that is what they told me today.

Bluetooth competes with some of Onstar pay features. Don't look for GM to make it an easy upgrade for older trucks.

 

Unfortuneately that makes entirely too much sense... probably true then.... :thumbs:

If the GM was smart, they would offer a bluetooth for older models, before a third party (i.e. Scosche) does. Why would GM want that money, the customer is going to get one regardless once they become available; why not have a first mover advantage. A good example of lost revenue and margin potential for GM is the iPod adaptors; how many of us have one where we would have bought the PAL if it was available.

So any updates on this? I thought the "hands free" on the 08 sierra I am looking to purchase was a BT connection? If not that's going to hack me off.

Disregard on my question. After doing more reading and googling I now realize that the "hands free" feature is just to use the On Star garbage. What a dissapointment :cool:

I am not optimistic about the Delphi bluetooth at least not for a while. This has been mentioned before but Scosche has a product called Blue Fusion that may be the next best thing. It's plug and play but has had a delayed introduction. Should be out soon?

CoStar Technologies (costartech.com) just introduced a plug-n-play replacement kit for the 07/08 GMT900s. You have to give up OnStar though. I never extended my OnStar service so it's not a big deal to me. This kit utilizes the OnStar mic, mirror controls and fully integrates with the radio and steering wheel controls just like using the OnStar hands free but without the monthly charge. I placed an order, it should be here next week.

if you want to add GM factory bluetooth to your 07 or 08 acadia, enclave, yukon, yukon xl, tahoe, suburban, sierra , silverado these are the parts you will need and then have your dealer reprogram your vcim.

i was looking for something like this as well. Let us know how it works. My friends 09 truck with the built in Blue Tooth is sweet. Does this unit display the phone number of incoming calls on the dash? Does it turn down the volume of the radio with incoming calls?

Which one were you referring to? The OEM, Scorche or CoSTAR?

 

I'm also curious as to that the total cost of the OEM upgrade would be after parts, shipping, installation and re-programming.

 

I under the understand the Scorche Blue Fusion unit is about $300+ for the parts and requires an external antennea be wired and mounted someplace in the vehicle.

 

The CoSTAR BlueSTAR just replaces the the OnStar module and utilizes exsiting OnStar equipment. Cost is $279.00 shipped (10% discount for Military). So, if you don't use OnStar and don't care about removing it from our vehicle, the CoSTAR seems to be the most economical choice, other than one that clips to the sunvisor.

 

Of course, if you subscribe to OnStar and use the service, the OEM would be the best integrated system and the Scorche would be a good alternative!

      I'm not sure if this should be a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - AC Delco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles, 119k total miles.  When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so I did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out, it could've been the wrong fluid. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material, scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance. I had a panic stop prior to this issue which may have contributed from what I read. And on the first attempt to bleed and hydraulic test the scanner listed things to look for and one was any gaps between the pad and rotors which I did notice on the RF corner and I removed the outer pad (where the gap was) cleaned it and the hardware and didn't see a gap after that but will re-check it. I read that if pushing the caliper pistons back then you're supposed to open the bleeder so as to not push fluid backwards into the abs module or it will damage it. If that's true then that's also a possibility from the previous owner having the brakes changed before I got it. I'm using an XTool ip500 scanner. Any suggestions, questions and comments welcome.

      Next Friday will be my 6 week point from my right knee replacement.  The surgeon says it will be fine if I choose to drive after this checkup.  I know I could drive now but best to do as my surgeon (and my wife) tell me.  Richard compared being 62 to 72.  I remember when I was in my early 60's I was experiencing slow but regular decline in my mobility.  Thanks to good medical support,  i continued to fight the speed and spread of this decline. During my 60's I worked on non-surgical methods and just when I turned 70, my orthopedic surgeon recommended joint replacements.  In a little over a year, I had one shoulder and both knees replaced.  This hasn't been a terribly fun experience, but worth the discomfort as my future mobility health trajectory has reversed.  It is a treat to now be watching my mobility. balance and confidence steadily improve!
