dadrummerray Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Hey everybody, recently, my np246 leaked fluid out and to no fault but my own i didn't pay attention to it. well it has cooked every bearing and destroyed the input shaft gears. I haven't pressed the input shaft out yet so i don't know if the case is even still good....we shall see. I have found a good deal on an np261 (manual case) and i wanted to know if anybody knows if this will fit. i know that i will have to cut a hole in the floor but i am worried about everything matching up. i have a 99 silverado, 5.3L 4l60e. the donor truck was a 2000 gmc sierra. not sure what transmission was in it but i would assume that the adapter plate could be the same. does anybody have any info on this? my buddy also suggested that i could find a tailshaft and a longer driveshaft to eliminate 4 wheel drive. does anybody know anything about this? the reason i am not just replacing the t-case is i just don't have the money right now and i am trying to get my truck back on the road as i use it to pull my trailer and my trailer is currently sittin in southern ohio. i would like to get it back....lol. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ray
