Colorado Lower Steering Column Help!

I feel a shutter(clonking feeling) in my gas pedal and sometimes the steering wheel when I drive about 20 mins and the outside temp is above 80 degrees. So, I showed my mechanic and he found that it was the lower steer column. He said I feel it in the gas pedal because the vibration travels through the firewall. I checked tsb's for 2007 colorado 4x4 Z71 and there was a report on this. I decided to let him replace the part( my dealer couldn't even change my oil without scratching up my sill plates and having oil drip all over my driveway). He replaced it and the new part made no difference. Please advise me if you know of a new replacement part or any way of fixing the problem. I saw on colorado.com web site that another mechanic uses bearing grease on the shaft to make it go away. He said that this is a problem in the larger trucks too. Is that true? What should I do? My mechanic also said that everything is tight ,put together the right way and safe to drive, is that true?

Does anyone have any suggestions??? I owned a 2004 Colorado Z85 and never heard of or experienced this problem.
