2003 Suburban Brakes Pulsing

Hi, my 03 suburbans brakes are intermittantly pulsing, but only after slowing and near a complete stop then pulse. The initial brake bite and feel is excellent. But when almost stopped they pulse for a second or so then work fine.

I since checked the front brakes discs and rotors look great, and are original with 40,000 miles.

I checked the rear, they were worn pretty bad, I replaced discs and rotors. The pulses still continue. Could this be a sensor issue?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Front rotors need to be turned. They are slightly warped. Very common problem after many many heat and cool cycles on disc brake vehicles. Should be a really easy fix.

Could be Jim but I think he might be describing an abs activation as a pulsation. There is a bulliten on unwanted low speed abs activation and it's pretty common. We are currently on bulliten posting lock down but I'm sure you can find a copy if you are a good with a search.

Guys, thanks for your help. Found the bulletin, pulled out all wheel sensors and they all looked like new. No corrosion at all. The things I have done to attempt to resolve this problem are the following:

Replaced rear rotors and pads.

Inspected front rotors and pads (have some wear but not bad, and pads have a lot of life left.)

Inspected wheel sensors.

Yesterday, it finally caused another problem, after weeks of the pulsing while coming to a stop, the pedal went to the floor and the system displayed "SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM" also displayed ABS, and BRAKE idiot lights.

I don't want to go replacing everything until I find the problem, but not sure what else to do. I am thinking of replacing front brake rotors and pads next. For the time being I pulled the Brake Fuse, the pulsing stopped.

Any other opinions?

Thanks.

HELP! :lol::D:tear::P:D:sigh:

Now I have changed front and rear rotors and pads, and of course the ABS is still activating. The brakes feel excellent, as it is about to come to a complete stop the brakes pulse. Feels as if ABS is falsely activating.

If I pull the brake fuse, problem goes away. So if all brakes are replaced, then what could the problem be?

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :sigh:

My best guess is your going to need to replace the sensors. There isn't a good way of telling without some testing. I couldn't begin to tell you how to do that at home.

IMO, that's what sucks about all this new technology,(sensors, etc), the life of the backyard wrench monkey is pretty much non-existant.

Had a similiar problem with a Dodge.  All the ABS sensors were ok, but the exciter ring was cracked which gave two teeth on the ring a wider than normal gap.  This would activate the ABS on that wheel when the vehicle slowed to below 10mph.  Had to replace the hub on that one.
