Well, like it say's, I saw Skynyrd last night, and although they sounded good, I wasn't very impressed. They only played for about an hour and 20 minutes, and that included one encore, which was, you guessed it "Freebird". It just seems to me that these guys are just simply hung up on themselves, and have the following they have from the use of their name. I've seen bar bands that can play as good, and put on a longer show than they did. I did see a lot of "eye candy" though. :D I guess that made up for the length of the show. :D I did like this one line they said before doing the song "That Smell". He said; been there, done that, ain't never going back. I like that, 'cause I've been there. :dunno:

I saw them a couple weeks ago at Verizon Music Center in Indy with Kid Rock, and I wasnt impressed at all.

Could it POSSIBLY be because they are all 80 and drunk? :D

I'd be willing to bet there wasn't a Walmart within 100 miles that had more than half of their staff!

FREEBIRD! WOO HOO!

I can't believe they're still touring. I saw them back in 92 or 93 with Damn Yankees and a couple other bands I can't remember. Damn Yankees stole the show (the Nuge always does), and Skynyrd was a disappointment even then. Only thing that saved the Skynyrd set was the thick green haze in the crowd. :D I guess people are just desperate for the nostalgia and hope that they're going to see something close to the real deal.

You got to do something when you need money.

OK, quite right. let me rephrase: I can't believe they can still make money touring. :D

Here is the equation they are following:

Drugs & gas for old tour bus = $/ticket * No. of people borded enough to see us at that price

Their goal is to remain in equilibrium. Any tour roadies is just bonus.

I saw them when they regrouped for the first time after the plane crash. They played in Baton Rouge, LA at the same arena the orginal band was headed for when they crashed. They were very rough around the edges but the overall feeling and fact that they (at least some of them) were back was worth the time and money.

They had roped off a section of apprx 400 seats for any fans holding original tickets from the concert that had been canceled due to the crash. They let these fans in free and recognized them for coming back to see the band.

The plane went down near Liberty, MS. We have a Store there and the owner can tell all kinds of stories about the crash.

I went to the 10 yr reunioun tour in '87 in Cleveland. That show kicked ass. When they played "Freebird", they didn't even sing it. Johnny Van Zant said, there is only one person who can sing this song, and he is no longer with us. They put a spot light on a microphone with that hat Ronnie always wore on it, and just played the music. Still sends chills up and down my spine thinking about that day. Alan Collins was in a wheel chair, from a car accident. He is no longer with us either.

At the end of their show I went to on Labor Day, they put up a big banner of all the band members who have died, that was awesome. I also just heard that they are working on a new album, and it's due out the first of next year.
