Alright ill use this thread for help with my truck... PLEASE you can add something or help, help me out! 1. CV Shaft appears to be leaking going into the front diff. does this have a bushing and a seal? can i fix this myself? (i have taken a cv shaft OFF a 90 silverado) 2. oil appears to be leaking from the oil pressure sensor, have you ever seen one leak and still work? 3. t-case tail seal is leaking, does this have a bushing? and can i change this myself? ill start with those i would really like to fix the embarassing leaks...

Smart move trying to stop them before they become big issues. I don't have exact answers but highly recommend a factory manual. The excellent exploded diagrams alone are worth every penny you spend on it. Hopefully some folks with experience in your particular truck will chime in.

i have a chilton and a haynes.. not much help..

 

 

The factory manuals are in a whole different league from the haynes and chiltons ones. I second that it's one of the best investments you can make for any car that you're going to work on yourself.

Is it the CV shaft or the axle seal leaking?

 

 

thats the thing i am not sure... there is a drop of gear oil on the shaft (the little round circles that connect to each other) and its dripping ALOT i dont know if there was a way to know without ripping the front end apart...

www.Alldatadiy.com It's a life saver and well worth the money.. waaayyyyy better than a Chilton or Hayes manual. Great exploded views of EVERYTHING.... including front axles, and t-cases.

I have a 98 factory manual, is all the same, what pics would you like? everything you mentioned is do-able, the front differential seal will be the most involved, the pressure sensor can probly be re-sealed and the t-case seals are a snap...

How do you replace the front shocks?

 

mine are JUNK... do i have to undo everything up front? like the balljoints and stuff? or am i able to just unbolt the shock then compress it and slide it out?

 

i have Brand New RS5000's in the back i replaced when i bought the truck so i am going to get RS5000's for the front but the front is really bad over bumps it fells as if it has no suspension or everything in the interior sort of drop because the front end "drops" into bumps

 

i am also thinking of getting steering stabilizer so when i get my pitman and idler arm fixed they wont ware out as fast. i had a skyjacker kit on my old truck i put on, but would somebody recomend something else?

since youve changed all of them before, are they about as easy to do as the back?

 

My only problem was it was a pain in the ass to take the nut off the top of the shock, due to limited room, rust, and needing to hold the top still with vice grips. I ended having a buddy hold the vice grips, and pull on the plastic wheel well liner, and I stuck the wrench through the wheel well. A ratcheting box wrench would have helped some.

 

It's not complicated, just a little obnoxious. The bottom is easy as shit.
