Big Ass Dent

Recommended Posts

So I put a big 'ole dent in the right rear side of truck's bed. In front of the tail light which was not damaged. I haven't been to the body shop yet. I am guessing $2000.00 in damage. I'm just wondering if it might be better to replace the bed? Has anyone replaced a truck bed? Seems like it might not be that hard to do. Anything special I need to know? Thanks,Zack

Oh come on!! Where is the story and pics!! Sorry about your boo-boo.

That really sucks about the dent there. But if it is just a regular dent, then it shouldn't be too bad to get fixed.

come on, we need a boo hoo story and some pix. I checked for a new long bed for my '99 C2500, and it was almost 4k.

OK....the story. I was backing my trailer, 6X10 flatbed with no gate. Anyway, I had taken my lawn tractor to the repairman and was backing out of his driveway onto a naroow road. Mailboxes and landscape block wall right behind me. Just when I thought I had enough room in the front to miss the concrete pillars, I jack knifed the freakin trailer and dented the side of bed. It's ugly and deep. I didn't even know it was close. I have no pics, but I'll try to get some. WHAT A DUMBA$$. At least I'm the one who did it. I can call me a dumba$$ and not be in trouble. Now if my wife did it.........

You don't generally replace the bed. It is made up of about 15 individual pieces... each one replaceable. Shouldn't be too big of a job for the right shop. Without pics it is impossible to know if it is a job for PDR or body work.

it's called paintless dent removal. $50 and it is fixed

I wouldn't trust someone to do that for 50 dollars :D. Hopefully you get it fixed!

PDR isn't very well suited for BIG ASS DENTS! :)

for a 02 it would be eaiser to find a new bed than to pay 2000 dollars.. alot of people take them off and put dump beds or whatever on...

Clean bed around here for an 02 would run about $2500... and that doesn't include painting.

Good thing this was explained. I was going to ask whose ass caused the big dent -- they should probably pay for the repair.
