Anyone Have The Dic In A 2000 Model Silvy/sierra?

I noticed that my Sierra is pretty decked out, minus the DIC and apparently the lack of a 4th door :) I'd like to add the DIC, but I'm not sure if it would be worth the cost.

The DIC is that little 1"x 1" square display just to the left of the speedometer,It displays readouts/warnings as needed, you can't "cycle" through any certain display or readouts,Thats all it was from '99-'02,You can't add any more features or displays.

It wasn't until the '03-up trucks that you could get a fully functioning DIC where you could "pick-n-choose" whats displayed.

Your truck was an early build 2000,They started adding the 4th door during the Jan.2000 production.

Your thinking of the compass/outside temp. display...that was on some of the S-series SUV's and mini-vans.

Thanks for the info. Any idea what the blank spot is on the overhead console (the one above the rear view mirror)? I thought that's where the dic would have went.

Thats where the rear HVAC control head goes for the SUV's.

Noo there is one that told MPG, etc, it fits in the overhead console above the mirror. It was on FSC part numbers and whatever.

That would have been pretty cool,I would have liked to of had something like that on my '99.

That would have definetly been something that they added afterwards,GM never put anything up there other than the HVAC controls on the SUV's.

Hobb3s,

You’re thinking of the Cadillac Escalade and GMC Denali MPG computer. In those trucks GM installed them in the center console, the console on the floor. If you buy them from the dealer, you'll pay an arm and a leg. Buying it on the online parts website is much less expensive. And I found mine on ebay, but I looked for about 1.5 to 2 years for it. Sometimes you can find them in a whole center console that someone is selling.

I did put one in my 2002 Avalanche and it works fine. There are about 7 wires to hook up. And I put mine in my overhead console, so it does fit. But it doesn't look exactly like a factory install, but pretty close. My understanding is that you can put them in 1999 ("new body style") through 2002 GMT800 vehicles. In 2003 GM changed the architecture and those vehicles have the cluster style MPG computer.

I'll see if I can dig up some pictures and information. I found a write up online where a person installed into their Silverado. I used that for a lot of my research.

Later.

Dang, the guy that did it took his website down. I'll check at home to see if I saved some info at my install.

Here's what I did find so far........(the links don't work.....)

"Post from another forum http://forums.pickuptruck.com/showfl...&am...0&fpart=all

He shows all functions working.

"a simple 7 wire deal, where 6 tie in to the radio, and one ties into the truck computer"

Maybe Penlum or someone can make a kit including the mounting bezel for a resonable price..

The trip computer itself is $348 from GMPD. Maybe just an install kit from and JPCustoms and you buy your own computer..

The guy also has a complete Denali front clip conversion on his 1500HD! http://www.falkenfoto.com/1500hd/"

-Thanks to Falken (the person that had the website) and Chane (who had the quoted part above).

I think the part number is 15082595 for the trip (MPG) computer. I'll double check tonight.

And I didn't order this part, I made my own, but the wiring harness might be 15305996.

This will help, it's the wire info to make your own harness....

Connector Part Information 12064799

And here's some info on where to connect them......

D gets connected to SP205, which is the splice pack for the Class 2 signal. It is taped to the main cluster of wires under the dash, right above the drivers left knee.

E is connected to #7 on the radio plug.

F is connected to #10 on the radio plug.

G is connected to #16 on the radio plug.

And here's a few pictures of Falken's install that I saved to my computer......
