New Tires

I have a 2007 Silverado NBS Extended Cab WT with the standard General Ameritac P245/70R17 108S tires and am looking to replace them. I have 26000 miles on the truck and they are not going to hold up much longer.

I am looking for recommendations on a replacement tire. I am looking for something that rides well and handles well. I don''t need tires that are known for ice, etc since I live in southeastern Louisiana.

A best buy is the Firestone Destination AT. I'd probably go to a 265 instead of a 245... but that's just me.

Go read up on Tirerack.com. There are tons of tire reviews from people who actually own them. That's how I found out about the Firestones. Here is a link.

Sam,

FYI: Discount tire also has some good reviews on tires...that should help finding the right tire for your truck...

I have always had good luck with Michelin LTX M/S tires. Excellent quiet ride, good traction, and outstanding tread wear, all in one package. Not cheap, but worth it.

I just added Cooper Zeon's to mine. Hard to find a 20 inch tire that is not a soft compound performance tire or a full m/s tire like a Toyo or Nitto. I wanted something in the middle and thought I would give this a try. I do not off road it, but it does see construction sites and it is nice to not be the guy stuck in the mud.

I'm surprised you got 26,000 miles out of those General Americraps, I only got 20,000 miles out of them in my 2006 Silverado, but my stock Goodyear Wrangler AT/S have 34,000 miles on them and they are still good. I'm sure I could get another 20,000 miles on them.
