New Tires In 18 Inch Sizes

I have been searching for some time looking into a new set of all terrain tires. I have nearly worn out my OE set at 40,000 miles. If you havent looked, our 18' selection is rather small. I am getting the new tires put on tomorrow. The tires I settled on are the new Bridgestone Dueler 695 AT. The size is an LT 275/65R18 C. They are supposed to be 32.2 X 11.00 X 18 with a tread depth of 16/32's. They weigh 50 lbs. I wanted to keep the weight close to stock but upgrade to an LT tire over the factory P metric size. I searched high and low, and while there are alot of sizes and styles for 18' available, sadly they are mostly load range E, and I dont need a 10 ply tire's rougher ride. The BFG's were E's and also weighed in at 54 lbs. the Revo's only had a tread depth of 11/32's which is not that deep. I like the new General Grabber AT2 but nobody has the new LT275/65R18 in stock. The Pro Comps are also E's, the Goodyear ATS is not a quality tire and the Silent Armor only has a tread depth of 14/32. The Nitto wasn't white letter, the Toyo's looked good but the 32's were on backorder here in GA. I got the Bridgestone 695's for $207/tire mounted and balanced(tomorrow), which seems to be a fair price. Any advice before I go in the morning to get them? Thanks.

Sounds like you did your reseach. Any name brand tire is going to be good as long as you keep them balenced and rotated. Get what ever tire you think looks best. It looks like you won't be driving on ice so you should be fine.

Thanks Matt, Yeah I have been researching this since I started to notice how bad the stock tires were tearing. I am an Agricultural Consultant by trade an I spend alot of time in the fields, problem is that I also spend alot of time on pavement between the fields and that can range up to 120 miles per day sometimes. I want to get a tire that is a little larger than stock while trying to maintain the best fuel economy as possible. I need the tire to really perform well off road because time and travel are part of my livelyhood.

What tires are you guys replacing your 18 inch stock tires with, and how are those working for you. I have a set of LT 285/65R18 BFG ATKO's that are a little used but these tires are very heavy. A friend gave them to me when he got a new truck, but these tires are about $280 per tire, which is ridiculously high for a tire. He was only getting aout 13 mpg on an identical truck as mine with these tires so they are not to appealing right now. Thanks for the help. Luke.

Good luck with the Bridgestones. Mine came stock with Dueler AT's they hold rocks in the tread and chuck them out at high speed, they are just beating the heck out of my truck even with the molded guards and 6" 3m clear tape. I have more rock chips on this truck in 4000 miles than I did on my last one with 84,000. They are getting replaced by the dealer, I'm going with BFG All Terrains, I've had them for years, they don't hold rocks and they wear very well, I'm going stock size LT265R65-18.

I had the 18 inch E rated BFGs on my Nissan Titan. (yeah I had one - for four months) They rode like they were carved out of solid rock. Big mistake. No more E rated tires for me. I've had the BFGs Ats on my other trucks and loved them... but they were not E rated.

I kinda' disagree with that,I've had AT/S's on my last three trucks...

LT265/75R16's on my '99 (Load range "D") LT265/70R17's on my '04 (Load range "C") and LT275/65R18's on my current '07 (Also load range "C")

They all started out with either 16/32" or 17/32" tread (How do they decide how much tread to start with anyway?!)

30,000 miles on the tires on the '99 when I traded it,they had about 8/32" tread left.

28,000 miles on the tires on the '04 when I traded it,thay had about 10/32" tread left.

Only a couple hundred miles on the ones on my '07 so I can't really comment on them yet!

Don't buy the regular Dueler A/T's. They're terrible tires and they don't last long at all. However, the Dueler A/T Revo is an amazing tire and they last a long time. I've ran a lot of different A/T's over the years and my Revo's are by far the favorite. I can't wait for the OEM Dueler A/T's on mine to wear out so I can replace them with 275/70/18 Revos'.

Sorry for the offense MS3Dale, none was intended. I was basing that response to my best friend's experience with his stock AT/S tires on his F150 w/ 18's. They were LT 275/65R18 C's. He always complained about them pulling and they were dead at 30,000. Now granted he may have not been too maintenance oriented with them. Did they pick your truck up any over stock in that size? The Bridgestones that I am having put on in the morning are the new Duelers, not like the factory Dueler AT RHS stock tires. These are Dueler AT 695. They are like the Revo's, but a litlle different. They look pretty good. I didnt get a chance to get them put on yesterday or today but I should be able to in the morning. I will keep you guys posted.

Agreed...A buddy of mine has an '05 K2500HD Duramax,He currently has 115,000 miles on it,The stock LT245/75R16 "E" Bridgestone Duravis 773's lasted him 30,000 miles,He then bought a set of Hummer H2 wheels and had me get him a set of LT265/70R17 "E" Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's to mount on them,He still has those same tires on it to this day!!! 85,000 miles on one set of tires!!!

He called me just other day and said they are just down to the wear bars and he wanted me to get him another set.

Oh none taken,Its cool

I just can't believe that I'm the only one on here who has good luck with Goodyear tires.

I can't be the only one who does the "3" important tire maintenance items...

1. Inflation

2. Rotation

3. Alignment

Oh well......Anyway no,the 275's didn't really pick it up over the stock 265's,Probably because they are only 1/2" taller.

You can go here to check different tire sizes....Tire Size Calculator

BTW....The AT/S's I have on my truck now are the same identical ones that your buddy had on his F150,I hope I get more than 30,000 miles out of them, based on my past experiences with them in other sizes I should.

Why did you only have it for 4 months? I never heard that story...

Well, my pal is driving a ford, strike..... it only weighs like an extra 1,000 lbs. even the F150. I really liked the looks of the Goodyears. I just saw several bad reviews on the tire rack web site. They were pricey tires though, anything in an 18 might as well be Gold Belted Radials. Dont understand it, less rubber, more money for tire company. i looked at the LT 275/65R18 E Goodyear MTR's. They look awesome. Problem is gasoline is o high, I couldnt justify the reduced fuel economy, road noise, shorter tire life. I really like the looks of the BFG ATKO's, but mostly its the shoulder lugs and Solid white Letters. ires used to have solid letters. There was a tire about 15 years ago made by Chapparral(not the ones about 7 years ago) that were solid white letters and made very well. They got replaced by crap. I like the General Grabber's looks the best, they just cant be had here in south west GA in the size I want, tire rack says still 2 months off from production for the 275's. I'll prob put new tires on and my windshield wiper heater will burn my truck down.....hahahaha!

Well... I'd had good experiences with other Nissans. My dad had an ol Nissan kingcab that he finally sold at about 200K. My brother has always had Nissan. I had a Frontier 4x4 when they first came out for about 50K. My 01 Altima was flawless right up to 80K when I sold it... so I bought a Titan.

It sucked really really bad. Horrible front suspension, 12 MPG, AND no matter what I did to it... it was ugly. A buddy wanted it, so I sold it to him and bought my current GMC. The only thing the Titan did good was pull my boat. That damn truck had great power. My buddy still has it and loves it.

End of Titan saga. I won't stray from GM anytime soon for a truck again.

    • Which one, the AT or AS?   Starfire is made by Cooper/Goodyear but at $85/tire I'd think I'd need to level-set my expectations that they may not even be round 😉 But you're saying they're decent?   I'm already into this thing $1506 in parts, fluids, etc. Totaled all my receipts today. $250 of that was replacing an EGR and MAP sensor that were probably fine, but I'm not going to return the parts since they've been installed. I'm cheap, but not that cheap. I use it, I keep it!   I may or may not make money if I sell the truck at this point, but, that wasn't really the point. And if I billed my time, I'd be hosed for real. My thought on the tires is I "might" put 1,000 miles on before selling it. I just don't want to put absolute junk on it, that doesn't do anyone any good. If the Solus solidly isn't junk, I'll definitely consider them.
    • I leave mine as is. I'm always a trip away from riding on unpaved roads. Dealer can clean it when they prep it after I trade it in for another new truck.
    • I have these on two vehicles and love them. Pepper is one of them 😉
    • 4WD. Far as I know it came stock with P's and not LT's. Definitely planning to put P's on it, but stock is a 109 XL load rating so I should probably stick within that guideline.   No rebates on anything I can see at the moment. Discount Tire is offering $50 off, but Pep Boys is very competitive on price, and also carries all the off-brand stuff. Les Schwab always wants an arm/leg, but they do good work.   It still has the original spare. Goodyear Wrangler RT/S, thing looks like a tractor tire LOL!! How times have changed.
    • 2020 Sierra 2500 HD (base model) gas engine 4wd.    All 4 windows roll down on their own. Happens somewhat randomly after stop and engine off - when engine turned off, when walking away from vehicle before or after locks activated. Pulled the window fuse F14 Instrument Panel Fuse Block Right; the driver's side still activates from driver's side door panel; passenger and back seat windows activate from local switches on their doors but not from driver's side group of switches. Power mirrors don't activate with fuse removed either (same fuse for both circuits). Problem not solved.    How can they even activate with fuse removed but they are all still opening and can control from each door?  When they open on their own, I can shut them from the switch in each door, but they don't stay closed.    Seems to be activated somehow with key fob; something bumping the key fob in my pocket or just handling - removed key fob and took it far enough away and now the windows stay closed. Replaced key fob batty just in case, no change.    Sounds like some kind of wiring short or maybe electronics. Dealer will first replace electronic control module without checking anything else and I anticipate problem will still exist since their troubleshooting skills are limited to "do whatever the computer says".  In any case, keyfob seems to be activating the circuitry.    Surely I'm not the only one with this issue, but I can't find anything related on the site. What do yall think?   JohnRoy
