Buying A Truck

Recommended Posts

Fellas,

I am looking at purchasing a new truck (used, but new to me) and I am looking for a bit of help..

Vehicle:

Black 2007 Chev 1/2 ton reg cab, short box<-- It's originally a US Truck)

5.3L 4x4 Z71

VIN: 1GCEK14087Z631701

Can I find all the options on this truck that could have possibly been missed by the add?

I have carfaxed the vehicle and it's clean. I am just looking for the list of ALL the options.. For example, Skid plate? suspension? tires? rear end gears? which block? aluminum or iron, Active fuel mgmnt? Etc..

If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated... I am going to start searching around this forum for nice little mods..

Chev's have always been in my family(88' Sierra and 04 Silverado) and when I went to school, I could only afford a car. Now that I'm out, It's time to buy the truck that I would like...

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,

Michael

Suspension and skid plate should be standard Z71 equipment. I don't have a way to run your vin but it does sound like a nice rig.

Welcome to the site.

There are several guys on this site who work for GM and have access to the GM database, so they can pull up your truck build sheet by the VIN. They will probably see your post and respond. All 5.3 liter '07+ half ton trucks have the AFM system.

One issue to watch out for is a potential oil leak from the rear main seal.

Well, before it starts getting heated, let me say that I LOVE MINE!

I have not had a rear main seal leak, only a leak ot the crank position sensor o-ring, which was quickly repaired by my dealer.

My 6-liter has been trouble free with 14,000 miles on it!!

Although the cloth seats do like to collect lint,Those of us with the cloth seats are waiting for a fix,but were not holding our breath,Its been over a year now and still no fix.

That was fast! Wow...

You guys have any major concerns with this truck other than the rear seal?

Don't worry about the seal leak at all. A lot of us have had it fixed and no one has had any problems from it. It's just a seal and your local dealer will be able to take care of it, no problem.

These GMT900's are great trucks. You'll be very happy with it.
