As some of you know the long awaited camaro will be available tomorrow for order with a $1000 deposit. To be built FEB 16th 09.

Anyone thinking about getting one!

I was thinking about seeing just how much the SS will run me (anyone know) and maybe even trade in the Sierra and take the hit on the NEG equity.

I keep hearing it is better to get all the toys i want before i get married and get a house any one else think this is true.

If anyone is thinking about getting one, what color and packages??

Ill take one in SILVER ICE with CYBER GREY STRIPEs and full exhaust from GMPP

No, get a house first. Or, if you are planning on getting married, just save a few steps and find a woman you hate and buy her a house.:lol::lol:

Seriously though, get a house first.

I would wait til 2010 or 2011 on the Camaro. That way they can work out the bugs and you can get the SS in a Ragtop :jester: .

thanks guys

VMAX that girl has a nice ass. Well my girl is in pharmacy school for another 5years and that would give me some time to buy either a house or keep living with my parents. Which they dont mind so they say. I work full time as a firefighter, so im not making a trillion dollars a year either i just really want that damn car, i have wanted a camaro forever. but the 02ss are around 20k in good condition and a brand new one is rumored to start at 28k for the SS.

That's funny as hell! :lol::D

House first, especially now while house prices are nice and low. At these prices, over the life of your mortgage, you'll save enough to buy a ZR1 someday instead! :jester::lol:

I just sold my silver SS last month and replaced it with the truck. The Sierra is truely more functional and I strangely enjoy driving it more. :jester: It's true about the house and wife..... With the economy, go for a house first. It's about the best time ever if you have the $$ or can get a loan. Housing equity will retain value, sadly that Camaro will never be worth anything. I now have a house, soon to be married and my SS is gone. It was no good at towing my boat anyway. I can still go fast on the water!

BTW..... Still trying to convince my GF to trade in her Passat for an 010 SS but I doubt that will happen.

You are prolly going to get lower interest rates on a house than buying that car... I would get a house... See I bought the house and then I bought my truck... So it worked out good in the end!

I bet a new Camaro SS with the goodies is gonna be at least $40k or pretty darn close !

Heres a link to the prices:

http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-camaro-ss-2010.html

New 08 and 09 Challenger SRT-8s $41,000 and 6 bangers $23,000 are gathering dust

and cobwebs here on the dealer lots around Syracuse NY.

Dealers are willing to deal with no more OVER sticker or add-on prices around here.........

I guess my old 84 Z-28 will have to be my play toy for a little while longer!

My head would say get the house first

My gut would say go for the Camaro  ...they are never more practical when you are single, otherwise you may have to wait until you are in your 50s and have headed full force into a mid-life crisis

I have struggled a little keeping the Mustang. The wife probably sees no point in something you can't stuff her and 2 gigantic baby seats into. I probably keep it for just that reason :jester:

Victory Red for a muscle car!!! You'll want to be seen by everyone!!!

You better shop around if you think 02 SS's are going for anything near 20K! Mine was mint and made the power numbers in the sig and I let it go for $13K. I could have asked 15K and probably got it, but the headaches and hassles of selling a car outweighed walking into the dealership and handing the keys over. I do see people that have them at 17-20K and no one will buy them unless it's an 35th LE model.

Mine with SLP mods optioned out at 34K in 2002. I bet a fully optioned 010 like mine will nick $40K easily.

Not sure if any of you guys have seen this yet :

GM starts Camaro price at $22,995

Automotive News

October 13, 2008 - 12:01 am ET

DETROIT — Chevrolet's 2010 Camaro LS with a V-6 engine will carry a base sticker of $22,995, including shipping.

The 6.2-liter V-8-powered SS performance version will have a base sticker price of $30,995 with shipping.

Customer ordering begins today, Oct. 13, Chevrolet says. Production starts Feb. 16 at General Motors' Oshawa, Ontario, assembly plant.

Chevrolet will look beyond the Camaro's traditional competitors, the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Challenger, says John Fitzpatrick, Camaro marketing manager.

"We will work to expand beyond that set and look at all the sporty competitors," Fitzpatrick says, citing the Nissan 350Z, Scion tC, and Honda Civic Si.

"We don't want to focus on just Mustang and Challenger," Fitzpatrick says. "We will keep them on the radar. But we think we have a product that has the styling, performance, safety and fuel efficiency to go up against the best in the market."

Asked what the greatest challenge is in launching the sporty Camaro in a time of worry over gasoline prices, Fitzpatrick says, "the biggest one is the unknown. Every day seems to bring something new to us. Our biggest challenge is getting out there and telling everybody they really need to take a look."

According to Chevrolet, the 3.6-liter V-6 LS and LT versions are rated at an estimated 300 hp. LS and LT versions are expected to have an estimated 27 mpg EPA rating in highway driving.

EDIT : I just noticed something. Why is this thread in Fullsize Truck & SUV? Shouldn't it be in off-topic or somewhere else?

yeah i talked to a dealer today and he let me spec one out but he said that while they can take orders today for bona fide sold camaros, he said that was for people who dont care what the price is. I do, he said that he can offically order them in mid december and that if i wanted one to just wait till one hit the lot to look at it because i might not want one once i see it.

There just isnt any good houses in kinston. I guess i could buy a foreclosure and fix her up while i live at home.
