Chewing Gum And Seat Belts

OK, our six year old has managed to get gum inbedded into my wifes XC90 middle rear seat belt. When it is warm and sticky, and retracted we cannot pull it free.

I need a gum removal method/technique that will not leave the interior smelling like petroleum products..... There may be a reward involved. + :D

Try OOPS, I am pretty sure you can find it anywhere. It comes in a little tin can. This stuff takes anything off, stickers, gum, tar...

I am guessing it is solvent based. Probably smells like kerosine. I could test it on something and then try something like Freebreeze to nuetralize the smell.......

Nevermind, it is called OOPS!. I just went and smelled it and it really didnt seem that bad. I have used it multiple times on stuff and never remember the smell being over powering.

I have heard, though I have not tried it myself, that holding an ice cube against gum will freeze it after a while and makes it easier to remove. I can see how it would work, and let me know if it does.

Thanks.

Dry ice should do the trick. My brother in law used a fire extinguisher on his seat that had gum stuck on it, and it came off. Good luck.

+1 Your local supermarket should have plenty of it and should give you some.

I had the same problem....use hairspray!

Hairspray? Any brand? Spray and wipe or scrub?

Any aerosol hairspray will do. Spray it on, and then take it off with a butterknife.

My truck smelled really good after this too!
