jamieh1 Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I have a 08 Silverado, the radio has XM and CD. While playing the CD, after a few minutes of playing the CD a noise starts, sounds kinda like a fan. If I cut off the CD the sound stops, playing XM or FM I do not hears the noise. Any idea what Im hearing?
98silvz71 Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I'm not exactly sure what that is. I have had it on my 03 Burb and 07 Avalanche. I think it is the bad shielding of the radio that causes the interference. I think it has something to do with the amount of amps the alternator produces because as the engine revs higher I can hear it get louder. I don't think its volt related because the Burb didn't drop below 12.4v and the Ave goes back and forth depending on load. EDIT: With my aftermarket CD player I don't have that sound anymore.

Im not hearing the sound in the speakers. It truly sounds like a fan in the radio.
