04 5.3 Idle Drops

It is strange. It has just started to do this after I bragged about how trouble free it has been. Here is how it goes.

After it has sat it starts up just fine. Idles fine. I go about 3 miles, 1 out of the subdivision and 2 that gets me to the top of the hill to the traffic light, and then when come to a stop it feels like it is going to die. The idle gets to about 400rpm and I have to give it gas to keep it running. It does this for about 3-4 miles and then it is fine. I've had the alternator and battery tested and they are fine. Anyone have any clue? It only does this when it is cold. It wont do it again all day. It is a 04 with the 5.3 and auto trans. It has 57K on it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Damon.

hmmmm i have noticed a drop in rpms in my truck when cold (05 5.3, auto, 36k) but it is when i am on the gas and then i let off, my rpms go very low and it almost sounds as if it cuts out for a second or two but then gets back up to regular rpms....i guess it just has to do with the engine being cold

That is the exact problem I have cause going up that hill is about 2 miles and it runs about 2400 rpms and then when I get to the light I let off cause it is my luck the light is always red. It has only started doing this for the last few weeks when the mornings have been in the upper 30's.

I have the same problem with mine but it doesn't happen every day... I was actually thinking along the lines of bad fuel pressure or throttle position indicator... thoughts? My truck is an '04 Silverado CC with 57K miles and a 5.3L Vin "T" engine, Auto transmission.
