Something Doesn't Sound Right ...

Ok, I finally got some spare time, and replaced the plug wires, rotor and cap. I used the MSD wires, Accel cap and a BW rotor. Everything came together relatively well, but it was a time consuming job. Getting to the cap was NO fun, why is it burried in the back of the engine??????? GREAT design there!! Anyhow got everything back together, started her up ... and hear this funny sound. Sounds like a choo choo train, a faint sound, but it's there. It was definitely not there before the swap. Truck seems to pull stronger, but that could be my imagination too. lol But just can't get over the strange sound. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Choo Choo!!!!!!! I know that sound. Check your spark plugs, sounds like they arent tightened down completely. My friends Blazer made the same sound after changing out the plugs. He found out the hard way when the plug shot out when he was driving down the road. Good luck.

Also, make sure that you installed the distributor rotor correctly .

Yup, I double checked, then triple checked, it went back in the same way the old one came out.

Thanks! It was weird, after taking her for a drive, the noise is gone. If (I hope not) it comes back, I'll check the sparkplugs to make sure they're tightened down, however when I changed them about 2 months ago, I torqued them down pretty good. Getting the plug wire boots off the plugs aren't so bad, but getting them back on is a biiiiiat-ch.

It may have just been the rotor wearing in on the button in the distributor cap. As fas as the placement of the distributor goes, is this the first GM small block you ever owned? They have been there forever.
