Dancing Speedometer On My Ol' 92

1992 GMC K1500 5.7L TBI / All of the sudden, the speedometer is jumping all over the place, whether driving or stopped in park. Every so often the tach will jump as well. The truck started having a hard time starting too. I do know the grounding is all tight as I was chasing a stalling issue and ended up replacing the distributer about a week ago, and she was good. Any thoughts??? Cruise control-fuel pump-injectors-confuser (er, computer).

Thanks, --Mike

Well I noticed that when I would let off the gas and coast, the speed would drop down to what it actually was. Dropped it off at the dealership this morning and they just called. "oh, it needs a new cluster and a speed buffer and maybe the pick-up sensor, should be $950 out the door". Well I am tempted to pick it up and start at the speed sensor and work from there in the driveway on a sunny day.

Thoughts???
