Last week I dropped off my 9 ton trailer to get some work done with the dump truck... I went back today to pick it up... The guy sells trailers like crazy but evidently business is a little slow for him so he has been picking some vehicles up at the auction to flip them...

 

This is what he had..

 

2008 Chevy Silverado 3500 Ltz Crew 4X4 LB LMM Dually Black w/25,000 miles... It had the integrated brake controller that I really liked...

 

I offered him to even up trade my truck which now has about 11,000 miles on it... And he said that he would do it but I told him that I would have to think about it and I would get back with him before Thanksgiving..

 

I would have up and done the deal if it wasnt for the dually part.. and not really sold on the idea of the long bed... I dont think that I would like that white/gray color on leather...

 

At this point I dont think that I will go back and do it but we'll see how I feel after the weekend...

Go got it! The extra space in the bed is nice to have, and dual-wheels, well my opinion is biased. :pimp:

haha, yeah I can understand that biased opinion :pimp: My wife doesnt like the idea but she hasnt seen it yet either. It looks exactly like yours but with the Chrome wheel package...

Decision should be a simple one...simply ask yourself...Do you NEED a 3500 Dually?

 

 

Yeah that was what I was telling my neighbor this morning.... I cant justify doing it when I dont really need a bigger truck.. The heaviest things that I pull with my truck is T300 Bobcat (around 10,000lbs) and a 305 Caterpillar Excavator (About 10-11k lbs...) And I dont do it on a weekly basis...

 

I think that the only reason why I wanted to do it was because it was black and the LTZ package.. Which those are 2 things that I can definitely live without!

I always thought it would be cool to have a Black dually with a big push bar/brushguard up front....Just kinda' think it looks badass!!!

To be honest, if I had found a regular cab 3500 Dually when I was looking for a truck, I would have bought it over my current Silverado. There is just something about a dually that is so cool.....

 

I say as long as its an even trade for your truck, go for it.

I would not do it. you know where your truck has been, but you don't know where the other one has been, or who drove it or how they treated it. That is why I hate buying used vehicles, because you never know who used it!!! I also would not want the dually because of the width in my everyday commute.

Well I looked at the truck again today and got in it to find out that it didnt have 25k miles on it... It was more like 35,6XX... That was a red flag for me and I know people can make mistakes and I know it would be an upgrade from my truck to this one... But as I stated before I dont need this truck and I am primarily doing it for color and integrated brake controller...

 

One other reason was the extra towing capabilities which I would never even come close to maxing out...

 

 

I was bummed I thought that I was going to be driving that truck home tomorrow...

 

I dont know about you all but I dont even want to see a carfax or anything about it... I was going to get the vin... But I was kinda ill about it cause I drove up there about an hour away thinking that I was looking at a truck with 25k...

 

So we will see... He gave till Tuesday for a final decision...

      .30” of rain all month and it’s been weeks since that. “Mowed” our two properties today for the first time since July 2nd. It only took 30 minutes because all I had to do was level some weeds and saplings in a few problem areas. Everything else is dead.

      Dealer reported a failed shifter module assembly so the whole shifter is getting replaced. Yet another premature repair… up to $12,000+ in extended warranty payout in only 5 years and 80,000 miles!

      According to the dealer it’s an internal leak/failure of the compressor.  Again, another failure that shouldn’t happen at only 5 years and 80k miles.  For some reason the compressors must be hard to come by right now, because the truck’s been at the dealer almost a week and they just located a compressor at another dealer several states away today.  We’ll see if this fixes the issue.

      I'm not sure if this should be a reply on this thread or a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - ACDelco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles. When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so i did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance.

      I wasn’t commenting on your post. Certainly wasn’t arguing. I was making an observation on my long term experience with supposedly proper length of driving for proper heat cycles. Works for me. Although I have seen water or vapor come out of exhaust when vehicles weren’t run very long and shut off. It’s very humid in the morning. Then hot and humid.
