Bluetooth Your Onstar (pre 09's Of Course)

I stumbled upon this thread on Trailvoy (http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=44733) while trying to determine if I could put an 09 OnStar ECM into my 08 Silverado. It won't allow you to keep your OnStar, but it is a direct replacement for the module and allows you to use the existing mic and buttons. The vendor said (in the Trailvoy forum) that he was working on a box for our (11bit?) systems. The current product will work with the GMT800's wiring.

I'm not in the market yet, because my OnStar runs through next Oct, but I'm sure that if you all contacted him you may be able to 'inspire' him to deliver sooner rather than later.

That's a sweet kit! I read the thread on TrailVoy and seems like good feedback. I may try this out.

Thia is exactly what I have been looking for! I wonder how long it will take to come to the market? I cancelled my OnStar after the free year ran out. Never used it! I even purchased like a 100 pre-paid minutes and never used them either. I recieve more calls than I make in the truck, and having to have two numbers (Cell and OnStar #'s) was too inconvient. This is how it should have come from the factory IMO!

Ok Im lazy and didn't want to read all that info. . .

So basically it uses bluetooth in place of the onstar calling feature, retaining stock buttons on the mirrors and what-not, correct?

So this doesn't work on the GMT900's?

That's too bad, you really had my hopes up.

It will. @Paul58, I emailed him over the weekend, and he said possibly by the end of the year. with this being the holidays and all, I would look for it early next year.

Do you think posting his e-mail address here will help? If everyone who is interested sends an e-mail expressing their interest, it may prod them into pushing this out quicker! Would make an awesome Christmas present... (Hint, hint)

Ok cool. I don't really *need* this, but if it's as good and simple as it sounds, I might be interested.

Chrysler has something similar to this from the factory (UConnect). My Grand Cherokee ahd it and it was pretty slick although the novelty kind of wore off a bit and I ended up using it rather infrequently, instead just using my phone. If it was included in my truck, great, if not, I couldn't see myself paying for it again. ( I believe it was a $195 option wjen I ordered the Jeep.) - Surprisingly this is one of the few things that worked the entire time I owned the Jeep.

I love uconnect. Its one of my favorite Grand Cherokee features. Sorry you had bad luck with yours, I never had any problems with any of my Jeeps. Just some really minor stuff and regular maintenance...
