Sierra Denali Fuel Economy

Sorry if I am bringing up an old subject, but search was not successful. What kind of fuel economy can I expect on a '08 Sierra Denali? Very close to pulling the trigger.

Try doing some searches on "6.2L and mpg" or "sierra and denali and mpg." You might also try those two with "mileage" instead of "mpg." I know there are a few threads...

Here's one I participated in..

The 08 SD and the 07 SD should be functionally equivalent on the fuel mileage. I believe the 09's have some changes to the motor, but it should still get about the same mileage, when running non-E85 fuel. I always run Premium in mine, because the owners manual "recommends" it. Different folks have different opinions on whether or not it's "worth it" to do that... :D

Best of luck and enjoy your SD! :sigh:

Michael and Terrell,

Thank you for the threads. That's just the information I was looking for. Very close to pulling the trigger on an '08 SD and wanted to verify what the dealers have been telling me.

Are you looking at an AWD SD or a RWD/2WD SD?

No problem, IMO it is a no brainer to get a 6.0 or 6.2 since there is little mpg difference vs the 5.3. I am mostly looking at highway economy, i believe if you are very light on the accelerator even the 6.0 and 6.2 will get decent city mpg. Plus the 6.0 & 6.2 have Variable Valve Timing which improves efficiently and power throughout the RPM range. I am leaning towards a 2009 6.0 or 6.2 crew cab. I am not in a hurry to buy so I'm waiting to see what GM's fate is this year. Plus by the end of 09 I'm sure there will be some great deals on trucks.

when you pull the trigger be sure to post some pics!

From what I have read you should be able to get 7-10k off MSRP on an 08!

I found that under certain conditions the SD can get put up some impressive numbers. I could get 21mpg U.S. @ 55mph with ideal highway conditions in the summer.

Around town, winter fuel, colder conditions, lot's of stop and go... let's just say you don't want to check the DIC too often. 11mpg U.S. is what I see most of the time. Summer, maybe 12.5-13.5 in town but I make no effort to improve those numbers. :sigh:
