I have a 95 ski doo. Thing has been running like crap and you need to hold the throttle in to get it running. So i took the carbs apart and cleaned them. you still have to hold the throttle it to start it and if you let if get to under 1500 rpm it will stall out and have to start all over again.

does anyone no what could be wrong?

I am assuming that you have fresh gas in the tank, right? I wonder if there is a leaking gasket on the carb (either the bowl or one of the flanges) and this is letting extra air in and your mixture is too lean (too much air, not enough gas). Definetly sounds like a carb problem though. Maybe take it into a shop and get them to set the jets, or make sure that the internal seals are not leaking by. Good luck.

I know almost nothing about snowmobiles, but I know dirtbikes pretty well.Is it a two-stroke? Be sure to clean the idle circuit well. After sitting they can get plugged up,or even a small speck of dirt can block 'em.After you cleaned the carbs did you blow out all the little tubes, holes, passageways, nooks a crannies with a good shot of compressed air..that will help alot. Also it wouldn't be a bad idea to check the float levels...are the plugs good? not fouled? is the gas/premix ratio correct?

Few Things To Check:

Could be a fuel pump problem, had a similar problem on my '96 Cat Z440.

Check your plugs, are they completely black or are they white? Put brand-new plugs & give it another try.

Are you getting spark to both plugs? If you start it with the caps off do they arc? How are the spark plug wires, any part of the wire exposed?

How's the compression in each cylinder?

Check your idler screws & make sure they're even on both.

Is the choke stuck?

Is your throttle cable loose, does it have a lot of play in it?

Start with those...

this is what i have done so far. New plugs. I took both carbs off and cleaned eveything. i can get it running enough to drive it around the yard but i cant let off the gas or it will stall. it has no choke just primer.

does anyone no if the ski doo snowmobiles have reed valves because i no that the jet skis have rotary valves for fuel

Pretty sure Ski-Doos have rotary valves.

yeah thats what i thought. cuz thats how my jet ski is. so the fuel problem must be from carbs back still. what a pain.
