A Hero's Welcome

John is a reservist assigned to my unit, this is a video of the welcome Gwinnett PD and FD had for one of their Officer's Son's who returned from Afghanistan with some pretty devastating injuries. I thought I'd share it you guys on Christmas Day. Hope you enjoy it and Merry Christmas!

This is a link to a "welcome home" we did for the son of one of the ladies that works in my office. Her son was in Afghanistan as an Air Force Combat Controller. He was injured in a firefight, just a month after my son Devan passed away, by some type of explosion (I have not pushed mom for details since it upsets us both). He was flown first to Germany and then to Walter Reed where they took both of his legs from above the knees. He has surpassed all expectations the Doctors there had with the progress he has made and pushes himself to and often pass the breaking point. He does this not only because that is the way he is but because he made himself a promise early on. He said he would be there to meet his Team mates when they flew home from their mission, he said he would be standing. When his Team flew in a couple weeks ago he met them there and met them on his two new legs. He came home to GA on Friday and since his wife works with me at the PD and her husband works at the FD here in the county also, we had lots of folks to see him along his way home. A limo was rented, the motorcycle group The Patriots came to assist with escort and a slew of PD and FD cars joined in. The video and editing was done by one of our DUI guys.
