Will I picked up the rims this morning. They are brand new takeoffs so i feel i got a good deal. These are going to be for my winter/all terrain set up. No wi have it narrowed down to 2 choices of tires. Either the Nitto Terra Grapplers AT AB loa range or the Firestone destination AT C load range. What would you go with?

I don't think either one is worth a crap in the snow. (if that is an issue) I love the Destination ATs in the wet and they ride excellent for an AT tire. Had them on three vehicles now with no issues.

Nice choice of winter wheels. I did it exactly opposite of you...I had those wheels new and bought others for the nice weather! I'm running the factory Goodyear Wrangler A/Ts for the winter...they've been good so far, but I haven't been in any considerable snow yet...

i thought consumer reports gave the Nittos the best winter traction out of any AT tire they tested.

I don't think consumer reports could test plastic trash sacks and get reliable results. Absolutely the most fraudulent group in the business. I'd trust somebody like tirerack.com and their actual customer reviews myself.

The only issue with ANY test is that they don't (or simply can't) test all brands. In fact I don't think tirerack sells Toyo so there is probably a hole in my recommendation as well.

Here is the Tirerack ratings for the Destination AT.

+1 on CR.

But my Nittos aren't bad in the snow. I see no diffeerence between these and the BFG AT T/A's I had.

Yeah... Not knocking the Nittos at all. Just saying I have had experience with the Firestones... but not on ice because I hate winter!:D:D

I don't have experiance with either tire but I would buy the nittos before the destinations, due to the fact of the center rib on the destinations. Once that goes bald you will have no traction in the snow. I most definately know about that. The reviews on Tire rack are for new tires. Need at least 20,000 miles for a good review. Just my opinion.
