K&n Vs. Airaid Worth The Wait?

I recently bought a new 09 Sierra.. I went to the local performance dealer and had them order me a K&N aircharger kit. K&N didnt have a listing for the 2009 and as far as i knew the 08 was identical so i had them order for the 08. turns out that the MAS is mouted different on the 09, the tube that the MAS is on is molded into the airbox.. so i couldnt use the kit for the 08. Im going to return it on monday, and i was wondering if i should go ahead and order the Airaider kit? they have one for the 09 and i can get it NOW... lol. they clame a 11 HP increase and 12 FT LBS. Or is it worth the wait for K&N to release one for the 09?

Thanks, Todd

PS: sorry for the multipost, computer said error, but apparenty not..

I'm not an expert but I doubt there is any noticeable difference between the two. While doing some research before purchasing my CAI, I found that most of the manufacturer claims are rarely realized by the average consumer. I'd say get the one that you like the look of the best.

I have a drop in K&N and love the fact that it doesn't make that adolescent gawdawful noise like a CAI when I step on it. Nobody has proven any real increase from using a CAI system on these trucks to me.

I have owned both Airaids and K&Ns and while both are great kits, I do prefer my K&Ns. That being said, if you must have one now, go with the Airaid, if you can wait, get the K&N. Just my opinion.

Wrong Jeffrey.

Mine is nice and quiet. :D

CAI doesn't sound good to me. Maybe on a 69 Camaro...

Does Airaid offer just the Modular Intake Tube for the '09's yet? If they do, get that and a drop-in and save yourself $200 or so. It accomplishes the same thing, it's just a ton cheaper.

GM spent a lot of time quieting down the intake on these engines. I kept my OEM box on the 99 2500 and put in a K&N element. No noticable change. I think the CAI makers are counting on the age old effect of more noise must = more horsepower thought process that most of us have. I'm not saying none of them have horsepower benefits, just that I bet it's a tiny number. And frankly, I like it quieter.

If I could do it over, I'd probably just use the airaid intake tube to replace the stocker and maybe a K&N filter....I mean that's all the average intake is anyways, half an air box and a tube.
