No personal experience here either but the posts in here from people that have them have been quite positive.

I run stt's great all around tire, but if you mostly drive on the highway, you would do better with a less agressive tire.

Pro's

great in sand,

in heavy water on roads, and

in snow

good handling on the highway

ok on ice

excellent in the mud

Con's

Heavy tire, big lugs= less fuel economy

lots of road noise, especially at about 40-45mph

ok on ice

Coopers are great tires. The STT is an aggressive mud tire, not great on the road. The ST is an aggressive all terrain, The ATR is a great all around tire. The ST will wear out faster and be noisier on the road, but better off road. The ATR is probably the best suited for mainly on road, and occasional run the the mud pit, or in the snow.

I love the tire except the road noise. It doesn't bother me but it will for some. If I keep this tire I will def. upgrade the audio haha. won't rule them out next time, they have good wear and handle decent on snow/ice which I need. But I personally havn't tested them much in mud. Similar tread pattern to the Toyo Country M/T but I have heard that those don't wear worth a shhhhhhhhhhhhht. But I havn't heard from anyone thats actually used them, just see tons of them around.

I have about 10k on my 285 STTs. They are an overall great tire, and I probably like them even more than the BFGs I have always run in the past. I have been through every type of terrain imagineable with these tires and they always pull through. Very, very rarely do I need 4wd, usually the locking rear in 2wd is more than sufficient.

After 10k, these tires look pretty much like the day they were new. They still have the little stringy things sticking off the side. I did rotate at 5k, and plan on rotating again any day now. Road noise isnt that noticable. If you are listening for it, its there, but nothing that the radio on low/moderate levels doesn't completely fix.

I would highly recommend for the price.

I agree, if you are running mostly on pavement, the ATRs are hard to beat. That is what I'm currently running, and love them. Very good on wet roads, and have done great with the little bit of off-roading I have done. +1 for the ATR

Cooper makes a great line of tires. American made and often cheaper than competitors GoodYear, BFG and others. I have the Discovery H/T Plus tires on my 20" Silverado SS wheels (2003) that I put on my 2003 Silverado Z71 (got an incredible deal on the orig GoodYear LS tires and the wheels).

It also helps that I got 35% off because my girlfriend works there... but, I was thinking of buying them before I met her... that just sealed the deal!!!

FWIW, I have the ATR's in a 285/75/16 and these are the first Cooper that I am hateing (my 4th set now). For some reason or another they hit about half-tread and now are worthless on wet pavement. They are still great on dry and snow covered roads, but sometimes when I am cornering up hill on wet pavement my rear end breaks loose and it starts to come around on me and that is NOT a very confident feeling. And I have a heavy K2500 Ext cab. I tried different air pressure and everything. I hate the fact that I need to contemplate dropping another $700 for tires when mine are half tread yet.

And if you look back I LOVED these tires when new and raved about them on here. I went alot of places in 2 wheel drive that I always needed 4 wheel drive before. They have excellent traction, but this is definitely scaring me away from Cooper.

I didn't have very good luck w/ the H/T's, as they were horrible for me on snow and wet roads. I had no traction on any snow, and my rear end kept breaking loose. The tires came w/ the truck which I bought used, but still had decent tread left. I swapped them out for the Firestone Destination A/Ts and they've been great so far.
