If you're thinking of going to the trouble of tearing into the engine and buying heads, cam, etc, why not just get a junkyard engine with higher output. Probably cheaper horsepower when you look at horspower per dollar. Lots of choices. Escalade, Denali, Vette, 2500 6.0L, Vmax, probably others.

How much power are you looking for? And what are you planning on doing with it? Racing, towing, bragging rights...?

If you are wanting another 20-30 hp, then I would say get your headers put on and then contact Justin with Blackbear performance. www.blackbearperformance.com

You can atleast do this and drive it while you are looking for your new motor. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. He can really wake your truck up with a 91+ Octane tune.

After driving it for a while and you still want more, then I would look for a motor. The easiest bolt in would be finding a Vmax from another GMT900 truck. This is also a great foundation for building some serious horsepower. Without any modifications you start out with almost 400hp. The heads should handle as much horsepower as you want to run in a street truck. A cam and headers will really liven it up.

Another option would be a forcing some air into it. Either a super charger or turbo would be a good choice. Magna Charger makes a system that I think adds around a 115-130 hp.

A great way to add some power to the truck, without having any issues at the dealer, is to add something like a Predator tuner. You can install the tune, and restore it back to stock any time you have to go to the dealer. It also allows you to dial inthe truck for your own personal performance preferences.

You get control over WOT Fuel and Timing, Rev and speed limits, idle speed, COT calibration and more.

Thanks

Mike

Does it have the ability to tune the TCM (tranny) yet? And can it remove the TM and other E-Nannies?

Are you saying that the dealer can not tell that a custom tune from your tuner has been used if that tune has been removed prior to returning to the dealer? I have heard much to the contrary. Have you somehow figured out how to defeat the dealer's ability to recognize non-OEM calibrations on the OEM modules?

Yes.

To put it simply, we are a bit smarter than GM ;)
