Bed Rail Covers For Gmt-900 Silverado?

I'm thinking about buying bed rail covers for my '07 Silverado. I, for one, would like the added protection to the bed rails and I also think that they might just add to the overall appearance of the truck.

I'm trying to decide between chrome and black. The only chrome that I like is the diamond pattern found on most truck tool boxes. However, I can't find any like that for the GMT-900's. If I get black I'll probably just go with GM covers since the are OEM plus they match the tailgate cap's pattern. I imagine they'll perform the same so what do yall think would look best? Or should I just leave it alone?

I'll put a picture of my truck up to help yall decide what looks better. I tried some work in Microsoft Paint but I could get much of an image made. I have since had the front bumper replaced with chrome and body color endcaps as well as a black hood shield.

I have the black gm ones also. The diamond plate looks kind of cheesy to me unless you have a chrome cow catcher on there.

I don't have them yet, but I am going to order the OEM black ones shortly. So that's my vote.

Not to hijack, but if the OEM ones have the same texture as the tailgate protector, has anyone had any problems with moisture getting in and freezing their tonneaus to them I know sometimes I really need to yank on my tailgate to open it as some ice has built up between the tailgate and the tri-fold extang. I'd like to get a set too and I prefer to have OEM stuff as I know it will fit and match the look of the truck.

Not to hijack, but if the OEM ones have the same texture as the tailgate protector, has anyone had any problems with moisture getting in and freezing their tonneaus to them I know sometimes I really need to yank on my tailgate to open it as some ice has built up between the tailgate and the tri-fold extang. I'd like to get a set too and I prefer to have OEM stuff as I know it will fit and match the look of the truck.

Yes, but I don't know if the freezing issue would be much better sitting on bare bed rails.

I have never had a problem with them bare (and its pretty effin cold up here), so I was curious as to with the protection.

Don't be so sure. There was thread on here recently about a guy who bought the GM bed caps for his GMT900 truck and there was at least a 3/4" gap at the front where the bed cap didn't cover. I don't know about you, but that doesn't fit worth a shit in my book.

you can kind of see here where mine end. Works for me since my front rail is not covered by anything.

I personally like the look of the chrome diamond ones from Dee Zee. http://www.truckstuffusa.com/britbedprotb.html. However, being that my truck is silver, will the chrome look out of place compared to black? I'm trying to get a good comparison of chrome on silver and all I can use is my front and rear bumpers. They don't look out of place though I don't think.

Maybe I'll just try one and if I don't like it I suppose I could always sell it and buy the others.

I'd be pretty upset if there was a gap at either end - they would more than likely go right back where they came from (dealer) as I am pretty meticulous about the vehicles. I did buy a front rail protector from a local body shop as GM doesn't make one and I had to cover a dent in the rail from throwing logs in the back (or pay $500 to have it removed). Thing costs $40 dollors and looks pretty good. I think it covers everything that you can see bare near the cab in dayday's photo so maybe the OEM ones will mate up perfectly. I definately will test fit 'em before I secure them (which I assume is with double sided tape).

Like I said those are the ones I have and I really like them. I think they will look find on your color truck, mine isn't that different. If you like 'em get 'em!!
