Why So Many Denalis For Sale?

Recommended Posts

I've scanned '2 gazillion gajillion' truck ads over the last few weeks, looking for a Sierra Crew Cab. Out of those ads, Denalis seem to make up about '1/2 a gazillion' -- at least.

Why so many Denalis for sale? Would you guess fuel economy or is there something wrong with them?

If Denalis are 'limited production' trucks, then it seems as if every Denali GM ever made is currently on the market! :D How come?

Denali a limited production?!?!

I can hear the sales rep now, "no sir, we cannot order you that high price / high margin vehicle for you because GM already made and sold the limited amount for the year. Can I put you in a lesser priced / less margin vehicle."

Just like those coin commercials, "strict limit to 10 per person." I bet you call and order 20, they'll make a "special case" just for you.

Heh... yeah Denalis are hardly limited production. I'd say Denalis are a third to half of the sales for GMC, honestly. I see almost as many Denalis on the road here as non-Denalis.

Denali's are plentiful in SoCal. Denali's in pickup form and Suburban form. I would agree with the assessment that some bought too much payment. Others probably are running scared about their job security or have lost their jobs already. Some are fearful of another runaway fuel price market. I'm pretty sure we won't see the runaway fuel prices anytime soon, as long as the economy is in the toilet at least.

But like the saying goes: "A recession is when your neighbor is out of work, a depression is when you are out of work."

BTW, it's not just Denalis that are all over for sale, it's all kinds of newer, high priced vehicles, here in SoCal.

Even here in Pittsburgh, PA...an area considered more "working class" than "upscale," Denalis in all their forms are aplenty.

I didn't word that very well. I really did mean 'limited' in the sense of being 'high end' -- rather than 'limited' in production. I'm sure Mercedes will make as many as you like, also.

Good comments, guys.

I agree people are downsizing due to payments, job security, and rising fuel prices (summer). I would buy a used Denali. They get almost as good mph hwy compared to the 5.3 6.0. No AFM and 403HP. Available in either AWD or 2WD.

It seems like a good deal when i see 2007 & 2008 Sierra Denalis with 40k (usually less) priced around 30K when MSRP was 46K.

I can deal with AWD since the 6 speed has a super low 1st gear. I dont like the fake wood but you can buy a cover kit for about $300 aftermarket. Plus you get just about every option standard.

I am planning on a Denali later on this year. Waiting to see what plays out with the economy and GM this summer (plus save bigger down payment) :D

2008 SD AWD loaded. I paid $36k with a sticker of $49k. Brand new.

Damn, When did you buy? During employee pricing + 6K incentive?

I found this and was ready to call dealer but looking up the vin on Carfax says its a C1500 so 2WD? 2009 and its already has 10k miles? Must not have sat still.

Here in VA Carmax and the independant dealers are loaded with full sized stuff. People just panicked and sold in droves when gas was north of $4 and those that used them as daily drivers just dumped them as did folks that didn't want a "toy" that got

12-15mpg.

I still can't figure that out. I laugh when I think about the money that they LOST........it would pay for a hell of a LOT of gas........

I have always had a beater for just such occasions that gets 26 city 31 hwy (95 Camry).

I can see at most of the local dealers they have severely cut their supply of new full sized SUV's as well as pick-ups. I think this will be the "new" norm......imho......

yep it's 2WD. plus on the fourth picture you can see the empty cubby hole where the electronic 4WD switch should be (next to the headlight switch).
