Add Cruise To Nbs 4.3l V6 Wt

Hey All,

First of all, this forum has been a huge help in getting my Silverado where I want it. Thank you all very much for your insight and expertise.

I have seen the threads for adding cruise to the nbs. From what I understand this is what needs to happen:

1. A steering wheel with cruise (and audio controls) including the wiring harness

2. A new clockspring that is equipped to handle the cruise and radio controls

3. An ECM re-program

The question I have is does anyone know if the same above applies to the V6 models as well? I assume it would as it is a drive-by wire platform like all the other GM900's.

Also, any news on poss AM options for the ECM flash? I understand that a bulletin is out from GM that forbids them from doing the flash for the upgrade. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I would have bought one with cruise, but at the time of purchase this setup was what I could afford, so that is why I am going back to do the mods now.

One of my friend's mom had cruise put on her G6 by the dealer, so hopefully it won't be too hard to get your dealer to do it. GM gave the 4.3 electronic throttle for the 900s so I doubt it would be too much of a hassle.

Thanks guys for the responses . . .

I looked at the pedal and it does not have a throttle, it appears it is drive-by-wire so I think your right, it should be a hook up just like the V8's.

Will the dealers do this anymore? If I install the hardware will they flash the ECm and reset the SIR? I was under the impression GM won't add these any longer?

Thanks for all your help

I think GM's official stance on this is to not add things like cruise if they weren't installed from the factory. However if you call around to enough dealers you might find one or two willing to do it. Afterall some dealers have been known to install lift kits and such on new vehicles and they are hurting for money just like the automakers. I'm guessing that your money is still green, right?

I hear that . . . thanks for the advise.
