This is the first 2500 HD I have every owned and would really like to put dual exhaust on it, but was wondering what the best exhaust for the money would be? BTW it has the 6.0L. I really like the way it sounds now, not extremly loud, but you can definately hear it.

I would like to pair this up with a cold air intake, but not sure if doing either of these will void any warranties?

If you don't want overly loud, go with Magnaflow

I put Flowmaster 70 series on mine and I have an 8.1L. I also went with smaller chrome tips and not the 3.5 inch tips you normally see sticking out.. This also helped keep the noise down. Instead of running them all the way out the back, they are bent to exit behind the rear wheels. You can hear it when you get on it, but cruising has a quiter factory like sound.

They will not void warranties if they are properly installed and quality products.

I put a Gibson system (Dual Extreme) on mine a couple weeks ago. Each pipe exits behind the rear wheels. It's definetly louder than stock when you step on it but once at highway speeds not much difference. So far I'm happy with it. I was able to get the aluminized version (they also sell stainless) for around $430 shipped.

I was thinking cat-back, but what is the benefit/cons of going true duals?

Heres my old 6.0L with 3" true duals H piped, Magnaflow hi-flow cats, Flowmaster Super 44s, 4x12 Magnaflow tips behind rear wheels.

This is not a cat-back, I designed it myself, supplied the parts and had it installed.

I have a dual in/out Flowmaster on my 2500HD with dual pipes out the back and want to go back to stock. Too loud. It's ok at first but after awhile it starts to get annoying. I'm looking for a stock system.

I have a 2001 2500HD With a 6.0 litre, Do not buy the Flowmaster Cat back kit they only last a year , I spent big bucks and a year later the pipes broke right out of the muffler I called and they didn't want to work with me and told me the kits were not built as heavy..

I since replaced it with a custom system with a "V Force" Muffler sounds good and not as loud as the flowmaster and it has 2 tailpipes....

When this goes bad i'm going with tailpipes only.....

I have a Flowmaster on mine, but I would say that it is on the loud side, and does have some highway drone. I still like it and that is why I got a flowmaster system. You will hear alot on here about which system is better than another, and the best advice I can give is to go to a muffler shop or a local car gathering, track any car event and listen for the sound you like, and then ask the person who has it. They might even take you for a quick ride to hear it. So for me I like the flowmaster stuff, but its loud and has some drone. As for falling apart after a year?? All the systems I have had were good, maybe got a bad one?? Sorry to hear about that Bunky. But just from my experance, on my 1995 Camaro I had a flowmaster on it for 6 years, and I sold it about 4 years ago, but it was fine, on my old 2001 Suburban I had one on it and it was fine for several years(sold that truck too), and on my Brother in laws 1/2ton Suburban we put one on it about 5 years ago, and its still great. So I hope this helps.

I think that is about the sound I am looking for. A friend of mine owns a 4-wheel drive shop so I'll probably have him install a custom system, but I think I'm leaning towards the flowmasters. I don't want to sound like the headers to glass packs, no tail pipes I had on my 70 chevy, but I don't want to spend a few hundred dollars to sound like stock either. Thanks for everyone's input.

I have some video clips of my truck on my signature you can view with a SS Gibson dual Extreme. The truck sounds real mean, i paid $630 for the stainless steal system which I highly recommend.

I dont want to loud like wake the neighbors loud, has anyone heard anything about the flo pro mufflers, went to a shop today they quoted 340 installed for the flo pro and told me it wouldn't be to loud, kinda talked me out of the flowmaster because of the sound
