I know this was probably stupid and not the safest way to do it...BUT...man was it FUN.

 

As some of you know, I recently had my Cadillac Performance Sedan, tuned by Justin from BlackBear.

 

I happened to run across a PERFECT time and place to step on it a little bit the other day.

 

Came around a small curve in the 8 lane Interstate, just cruising along about 80... and there was NOT ONE CAR for AT LEAST 3/4 of a mile (probably closer to a mile) in front of me.

 

Pushed it to the floor, it dropped back to third and took off. At 135 or so, I eased up JUST A TAD, and let it go into 4th gear. It dropped from 6600 rpm (redline is 6800) right back into the power band for 4th gear and it just kept pulling.

 

It was still gaining speed pretty good, but I had to let off at about 142 or 143, because I was catching up to the other traffic.

It seemed to still be pulling REAL STRONG at 142. It only took it a few seconds to get it up to that speed.

 

I wonder what the actual top speed would be ..."IF" you had the room to SAFELY find out.

 

I doubt that I will ever do a full out top speed run. That was fast enough

Adrenilin was going pretty good for about 15 minutes after doing that.

I'd have pooped. And cried for hours when I inevitably passed a cop and got my license taken away. That's damn impressive though, I'd never think it would get up that high. Congrats on not getting arrested, too.

 

What are your tires rated for?

They are "H" rated and were aired up good and it was a cool day.

34 front..32 rear.

Thats what I run in them most of the time.

 

They are good for CONTINUOUS 130 mph, so 10 seconds over 130, shouldn't hurt anything.

I hope.

NOPE! I've seen better than 120 in the truck and that was plenty fast enough!

 

My old TSX would run over 130. Somewhere around 90 or so, it felt like it kind of sucked down (or was pushed down) and became more or less "one with the road." I can not say the same for the truck!

Damn. The fastest I've ever gone in a car was about 135 in my buddies old STI. That was wicked fast!
