Intermittent Loose Steering

When driving at any speed my steering will suddenly "slip" and get loose in the direction I am turning. It only lasts a split second. It drives straight otherwise.

It happens mostly when changing lanes or veering in either direction. Sometimes I fear that the "slip" will cause me to over compensate at higher speeds.

Any clue what could cause this? Tie rods? Power steering?

EVO sensor.

It's under the dash, where the upper shaft (steering column) meets the intermediate. It's an enclosed white ring.

Draenor,

I changed my EVO sensor a few months ago and am having the same problem. Is there a method to test this sensor? Is there any way the steering box could have a problem (no accidents with the vehicle)?
