Is there a kit that comes with just the camera and harness? I already have the mirror since it came in the truck. It's the one with compass and temp. It came with the truck but doesn't have the camera installed.

 

What is the part number for the kit that doesn't come with the camera?

If your mirror has the compass and temp display in it, you don't have the LCD screen for the rear camera. Scroll back up and look at the pictures of the mirror with the screen that are posted in this thread -- no compass/temp display in it.

There are mirrors out there, factory installed and optional, that DO have the screen in them as well as the temp/comp

I guess I stand corrected.... but why is this the first I've ever heard of/seen such a thing? I don't recall ever seeing any mention of this option back in '07-08 on any documents from GM.

I have read this post a million times and forgive me if I missed this. It seems like it talks a lot about the camera setup without the factory installed nav. I have a 2007 NNBS Silverado with the factory installed nav with the Bose system.

 

From what I can tell, the one made by autostrata is a true plug and play with no added harnesses needed. Please correct me if I am wrong.

 

So for those of you out there that have added the camera to the factory nav with the Bose system, can you please post a little more information on it?

 

If I missed it, please forgive me..

Did most of the install today. Didn't have too many issues with it. will post some pictures when it is completed and have the install sheets in PDF if anyone wants to see them.

 

Can you please send me the instructions? I'm trying to figure out if I can just get the bezel/camera (part # 25998187) and wire it myself. Also, would you happen to know what the 4 wires are coming from the camera - Looks to be Red, White, Black, and Blue.

Yes, or could you post a pdf of the instructions or email? I'm trying to minimize cost since I already have the nav and do not need the mirror. I would like to know how the harness should be routed and what essential connections should be made. Thanks in advance.

It's currently offered on eBay by seller autostrata for $399. I've bought one and would recommend to others since its reasonably priced and includes all factory parts and is made for those of us who want to use our navigation monitor. Factory harness with pins already crimped so all you have to do is place into the correct factory connectors. Good luck.

My truck came with the mirror with the camera screen in it but did not come with the camera. Did anybody elses truck come like this? I can see the screen in the mirror if I look at the mirror at the right angle.

I'm not so sure about this. I too noticed that there appears to be a screen behind my mirror, but I just can't seem to believe they'd chunk it in their and not use it, seems very odd seeing as how GM has been counting every penny the last couple of years. Anyhow, I ran out and took some pics of my mirror for the scrutiny of the other members to see if we do, in fact, have monitors in our mirrors.

 

Sorry about the terrible shots, they were the best I could do on the fly.

 

Even though you can't see it, I assure you there is a large black square spot beneath the mirror on the left side.

 

I'd love for you guys to say yes and that way all I'd have to buy is the bezel and the camera. That'd be so awesome.

The other thing is for this to be effective in my situation the camera needs to see the hitch ball for the numerous trailer towing that I end up doing.

ferris209, I have the same exact mirror in my truck but can't confirm if there's a monitor in it. That also seems like a lot of wires for 3 buttons plus power.

 

Nobody seems to know at all or won't respond.

Hey irelands18 I just ordered one of these from you on ebay, looking forward to getting it installed.

aczr2k, did you ever get this installed??? How is it working out for you??? I have been working with varuious camera manufactures and have found one that is custom making cameras to my specs, check out the picture attached or In the link.... pretty damn close to factory, huh??
