Got My Camera Tailgate Bezel Today

Well I talk to a couple of Dealerships today and got more info. There is a kit that GM makes now. The part number for my specific vehicle 19172557. I guess there are 2 different part numbers. gmpartsdirect it selling it for $727.27.

 

Holly crap! That's a lot for a stinkin' camera! Did they tell you what else it came with (monitor, etc)? GMPartsdirect doesn't have much in the way of a description. I like the idea of a factory fit, and I'm willing to spend a bit more to get it, but that ain't cheap.

$727 is a bit much for me. I like the idea of it being done by the factory but dang. I guess I'll be doing it like Blackgold did his.

I gave them the last 8 of my vin ans thats what he told me i would need. Now I already have the factory nav so I assume it would be for the camera, the wiring harness, and tailgate handle cover.

So I was at the dealer today and talked to the parts guy about the factory camera. He said there was now a kit so that it can be installed on my 08 it runs like $350+tax. Unfortunatelly he would not give me the part number saying he needed my vin to confirm before he would give it to me and I did not have my truck with me. Anyways. IS there anyone out there that can get the part number for me. I want to see if gmpartsdirect has it for cheaper. Thanks

 

Just picked up the Boyo VTK350 camera thru amazon for $23 and the bezel from gmpartshouse for $33 thanks for the part# blackgold. this will almost finished up my NAV install...

 

 

Any Updates??

I coulda used one of those suckers yesterday.

 

Little old lady backed her Honda out of her parking spot same time I backed out of my parking spot. No damage to me, but her Honda bumper is pranged up pretty good.

I priced the bezel the other day and noticed it is set up for the key lock also. Does the bezel come with the lock, or will it just be a hole if I don't have the lock already?

you'll need to get the locking tailgate kit first... Then you can swap that lock cylinder over to the new bezel. The kit is easy to fit to your ley. you simply pull off the yellow sticker, and insert your key in it. It auto conforms to your key. It's magic!

I priced the bezel the other day and noticed it is set up for the key lock also. Does the bezel come with the lock, or will it just be a hole if I don't have the lock already?

The part number 19172557 is an install kit for the camera for Silverado models that do not have Nav or any of the installed camera options. I bought it today and have the full parts list, but it comes with: a replacement light sensitive rear view monitor mirror with on star (I think there is a kit to get a mirror without onstar as well, or it might be the kit to install the camera with nav, not sure.), camera already installed in the replacement bezel, long wire harness to go from the tail gate to the cab, and a short harness to hook up the mirror and the rest of the system inside the cab.

 

The install requires drilling two holes in the rear of the truck. One in the base of the tailgate and one in the middle rear of the bed. The wiring to the mirror requires some removal of paneling, but nothing too bad. Overall I have to say it is not a choire for the weak hearted, but if you know what you are doing it isn't too bad.

Does the replacement mirror still have the temp and compass? In 09 they moved them from the mirror to the instrument cluster, but 07-08 in mirror. Do you have to get anything programmed from the dealer? Thx.

Are you able to see the trailer hitch in your display from that location/angle (as in, see the ball to line up while backing up/hitching on a trailer)?

 

I bought one of the tailgate handle bezels, but I may decide to go a different route if it would give a better angle/view....

Right now it would miss a hitch by about 6". The camera came with a couple of angle bezel/spacers. If I used one of these I'd see the hitch no problem. I haven't had the need to tow so I didn't put them in and went with the flush mount.

I used that. It'a little pricy but very wide and looks pretty good at night. It shows the angle pieces at the bottom.

The camera monitor without nav looks like this. (or atleast close to it) REARVIEW%20CAMERA%20with%20locking%20tailgate.jpg. I can get a full parts list and pictures this weekend.

 

The mirror replacement does come in the kit.

      .30” of rain all month and it’s been weeks since that. “Mowed” our two properties today for the first time since July 2nd. It only took 30 minutes because all I had to do was level some weeds and saplings in a few problem areas. Everything else is dead.

      According to the dealer it’s an internal leak/failure of the compressor.  Again, another failure that shouldn’t happen at only 5 years and 80k miles.  For some reason the compressors must be hard to come by right now, because the truck’s been at the dealer almost a week and they just located a compressor at another dealer several states away today.  We’ll see if this fixes the issue.

      I'm not sure if this should be a reply on this thread or a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - ACDelco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles. When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so i did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance.

      I wasn’t commenting on your post. Certainly wasn’t arguing. I was making an observation on my long term experience with supposedly proper length of driving for proper heat cycles. Works for me. Although I have seen water or vapor come out of exhaust when vehicles weren’t run very long and shut off. It’s very humid in the morning. Then hot and humid.
