+520 on the routing of wires. I need to know where to route my wires from the head unit alllllll the way back to the tailgate handle. Plus how to get to the back of the HU and will it be obvious when I see the back of the HU to see where to plug in my wires. If nobody knows then Ill just run the wires outside the truck and cover it with black tape.

One more thing... You talked about having an aftermarket camera with the factory bezel. Does it make a good fit or do you have to do anything special to make it look good and to be water tight. Just curious whether I should by the factory camera or go a lil' cheaper and go aftermarket.

I ran my cable from behind the radio...down to the driver side rocker and hid the wires in there...basically mounted to those that run the power seat, etc...there was a knock out behind the driver side seat on the floor and I ran the wire through there....then I found a hole in the frame rail and carefully ran the wire all the way back to the bumper, hid the wires back there, then jumped up to the tailgate....a coathanger will help run the wires along...that is how I did mine!

HUH?!?!?! All the glass on your truck, the taillights, the PAINT, and you are worried about a "punk" busting out a 1" lense?!!?? If I WAS to be targetted by a Vandal, I would be happy if that was all that was damaged. it's cheap and easy to replace. You see how tight it is there. I had to dremel out the factory hole a bit to fit a round camera. I just got done routing the wire. it comes out on the pass side of the tailgate.. there is a large opening on the bottom, fwe put some wire loom on it, pulled out the taillight bezel, tucked the wire (in the loom) under the taillight and down that little crevice there. you can see a tiny bit of the wire going from the tailgate to the body where the factory hinge is if you're looking hard. We have the wire running with factory bundles up towards the front, will finish tying it in tomorrow. We found the plastic grommet on the driver's floorboard. We will probably use that in the morning. I will post pics up later.

I read their install, I did not like the idea of drilling in to my truck though. so I opted for a gentler install method.

On www.truckinweb.com there is a pretty helpful tech article about installing a cam.

So I was at the dealer today and talked to the parts guy about the factory camera. He said there was now a kit so that it can be installed on my 08 it runs like $350+tax. Unfortunatelly he would not give me the part number saying he needed my vin to confirm before he would give it to me and I did not have my truck with me. Anyways. IS there anyone out there that can get the part number for me. I want to see if gmpartsdirect has it for cheaper. Thanks

no problem.. my install is DONE! holy hell the hardest part was the wiring behind the dash. It's too dark to tell how the camera quality is (it sucks at night, pretty grainy).

going to pass out now! have to finish putting the truck back together tomorrow!

If you get more info on this let me know....this maybe would be a good way to go instead of what I was getting ready to add....however BlackGold's setup does look very nice....I'm just concerned about night time quality with that other camera....

Gm has a vehicle accessory instalation here that will install it. However with the holiday today, they are closed. I have asked the to get me a full quote so that it would all be covered under the factory warranty. I let you know when I get that info. I am still looking for a part number if anyone has it. or can get it. Thanks
