Got My Camera Tailgate Bezel Today

Does anybody have the dimensions of the VTK350 camera? I've looked on the net and could not find it anywhere.

 

I want to use the tailgate bezel with this camera. I am just not sure it will fit into the tailgate bezel, since it appears to be larger then the VTK350.

I just ordered a VTK350 to use with the factory bezel in my truck... somewhere on this site are pics of another member's truck that uses this setup. He actually says he had to dremel out the hole on the bezel a bit for the camera to fit, but it came out looking awesome.

Seen that one, just would like a camera with better night vision. If you could please check the diameter of the camera and the bezel when you receive it that would be great.

 

If the ebay camera I am looking at is too large for the tailgate bezel, I guess it will go in the spoiler.

I already have the bezel sitting here on my desk; the opening is 21mm square (27mm diagonally).

 

There is about 5mm of extra material on the flat surface surrounding the opening that could be removed to allow a larger camera to fit.

How do you like the maps and nav on that unit? I was thinking about picking one up, but all the units I look at, the maps look that they were drawn 10 years ago on a gameboy. I guess I'm spoiled by my droid with google maps and nav :o

I have not had time to really learn about it. It came in installed in a car we took in on trade, so I got it for free!!I just had to buy the onstar kit, dash kit and steering wheel control kit, that was enuff!

I also looked at amazon for the camera vtk 350 listed for twice as much as this artilce shows??

My son burned the new Nav disc for this unit, around here seems to look correct.

Yes. It will fit any GMT900 pickup with the locking tailgate. Owners without it can also add the locking mechanism if they so desire.

My truck came with the mirror with the camera screen in it but did not come with the camera. Did anybody elses truck come like this? I can see the screen in the mirror if I look at the mirror at the right angle.

There is a harness you can purchase which gives you a regular RCA Composite Video input to the back of the navigation unit. The kit is usually used to install OE Navigation into a truck that didn't originally come with it, but I believe you can re-purpose it for this use as well.

This kit is designed for systems without nav. It isnt that hard to install. In the install it tells you what wires to pull for the compass and temp also.

 

The mirror I think might be different. It has a rear view monitor in it.

Does anybody have a GPS unit with a video input working as a back up camera monitor? I checked around the web, and there are several units available that have a video input. With that, all you would need would be a camera (about $40 on ebay). Anybody thought about going with this setup?

Thanks for the info Charlie. Since the camera bezel for the ebay camera I'm looking at is 1 11/16, looks like I will go with a spoiler mount.
