Robby Gordon's status, future unclear

By DAVID POOLE

The Charlotte Observer

For now, at least, Robby Gordon is still officially the driver of the No. 4 Chevrolet owned by Morgan-McClure Motorsports. Clearly, however, what was announced as a five-year deal between Gordon and the team is in trouble before it even reaches five races.

When contacted Wednesday by a newspaper in the Bristol, Tenn., area about rumors that Gordon might be replaced in the ride by this weekend or next, team general manager Larry McClure said he couldn't comment. The team is based in Abindgon, Va., not far from the Bristol area. The Winston Cup circuit goes to Bristol on March 25 following this weekend's trip to Darlington.

Robby Gordon must be hard to work with.  His whole NASCAR career has been this way it seems like.

The man can't drive a racecar! He has been fired by so many teams in NASCAR. Maybe he out to go back to midgets.

AMEN Friz.  Nascar racing was so much better when he was gone the last few years because we didn't have to worry about who he would wreck every weekend.

I'm glad Scott Pruett is not racing this year too.

I read at NASCAR.com that the whole story is hogwash. He's got a four year deal with Morgan-McClure.

Well, I spoke too soon in my last post, although what I said was true at the time. As per NASCAR Online today, Wednesday, March 21, Robby Gordon has been released from Morgan-McClure Racing. Kevin LePage will enter the car at Bristol.

I don't know what MM is thinking; LePage is an also-ran with no chance at a win, same as Robby Gordon.

And now MM will probably get sued for breech of contract.

LePage MIGHT do better than you think.

When he was with Roush, I believe JR favored Mark Martin and Jeff Burton. (they were his best bet for a championship)

But I do think there are better people for the job.

From what I understand, it was a mutual split and they will not have to pay him for the length of the contract.
