Thought I should introduce myself. I bought an '09 Sierra 1500 in late November. Don't tell me I'm not doing my part stimulating the economy!!!

I've had a number of trucks over the last nine years. Here's the rundown:

'00 Toyota Tacoma (new, had front end vibration, sold at 7 mos)

'01 Toyota Tundra (new)

'03 Dodge Ram 2500 w/Cummins (new)

'03 Toyota Tundra (used)

'09 GMC Sierra

I like Toyotas but bought the GMC after hearing my buddy who's a mechanic at a Chevy dealer talk about the new body style truck. He kept talking about the mileage and the fact that they have seen very few in for service other than routine maintenance.

So far I love the truck. I've got 6300 miles on it since December but I only use it for hunting trips so it sits in my garage most of the time. I've added a Line-x liner, ARE topper, weatherguard front/rear floor mats, Coverking velour seat covers and Roadmaster Active Suspension. Other than that it's stock. I love all the room and the mileage is better than my Tundras except in the wind. The wind causes the mileage to plummet getting 12.5 - 14 on the interstate with 30 mph winds. The Tundra would get better in those conditions and, unfortunately, we get lots of wind here in the western prairie. Without wind, though, I'm getting around 17 mpg and I have more room and power than the Toyota. Incidentally, I followed my buddy out to Kansas driving his '08 Tundra. We filled up at the same time and I beat his mileage by nearly 2 mpg! The great thing, too, is this mileage is with the mandated winter oxygenated fuel.

Oh, I should also mention that I've been a member of the Tundra Solutions board since 2002. That's a great board and this place seems very similar.

Another thing I discovered (the hard way) about this truck is don't try to add more gas after the pump has kicked off. I overfill it every time!
