What is the best way to completely flush the tranny? (2004 1500 5.3L 4WD)

Ive pulled the pan before, but that obviously doesnt drain the tranny completely.

Thanks in advance!

I looked at some of those previous to posting this, but didnt find any definitive answers there.

In attempting to drain several different ones over the years, I have found out that the only way is to remove and pour out the torque converter. I think the best you can do is pull the pan and let her sit, then fill up, run till hot and then drain again.

The best way is called the purge method. Dain the pan, service it by removing/cleaning/changing the filter and reassemble. Refill the transmission with fresh fluid. Disconnect one of the cooler lines at the radiator, put it into a bucket and start the engine. Let the transmission oil pump purge the old oil into the bucket so that nothing is subjected to abnormal oil flow. Start pouring oil into the transmission to keep it full while the idling engine/transmission oil pump purges the fluid thru the system. Easy and quick and gets ALL the fluid out...

I can supply more detailed instruction so PM for those.

What Mike said but I only pump out one qt at a time, add a qt, pump out a qt etc. Amsoil's website has some great step by step instructions.
